That doesn't sound right at all, that would be saying at least a fifth of the suicides are transexuals, which, while possible, doesn't seem likely with the 1/375 rate of transexuals. Also, I don't think you can extend western statistics on transsexuality to other cultures, transsexuality is based on gender which is culture bound. Waria are not the same thing as the western idea of transexual, it's a traditional gender in the region.

Actually Iran is one of the most tolerate countries of transsexuality, specifically because they view it as an acceptable treatment for homosexuality.
Anyway, Indonesia is not an islamic country like Iran or Afghanistan is. While it is predominantly muslim and it doesn't have full freedom of religion, there are range of acceptable religions and a sizable percentage of the country isn't muslim. Indonesia is fairly liberal for a non-western country. In comparison, Turkey is more religiously free than Indonesia, but a much larger percentage of it's population is muslim. Anyway, the countries cannot be compared as the cultures in those countries are completely than in Indonesia. While none of those countries are Arab cultures, they are more so than Indonesia is.
