Just so people know, I'm f*****g jacked about meditating tonight. Last time I meditated was over a week, ago. I was home for Christmas and there is no quiet spots in the house. Yes, this is one of my favourite things to do.

How many people, here, meditate in the classic fashion?

I know I don't. The idea sounds like something I'd hate. I don't like staying in one spot too much unless I am doing something there. I prefer walking, movement and action over meditation.

My initial reaction was like Awesomely glorious, but on the other hand I can also lay down and not move if there is no noise or anything to bother me. I can sort of shut my body down.

Right now mediating could be the mind boggling greatest thing on the face of the earth or just "meh."

I have no idea.

I need to meditate more often. It really helps me clear my mind.

I voted I know nothing. My problem is my brain is in a constant theta state and I think
mediation maybe not help me speed my brain up to the beta state I need to be in.
Oh you might be interested in EEG:

I consider building such a device to do neurofeedback but I was not impressed with the reports of its effectiviness for ADHD.

I think a lot of depressed/anxious people need to, in my worthless opinion. It really DOES help clear the mind and people would be amazed at what "side effects" result from that

How do you go about meditating? Do you lay down?

I've never been able to meditate in any way.

Many people don't realize that they have, in fact, meditated. Have you never been completely absorbed in one of your interests?

MEDITATION SAVED MY LIFE

http://www.shfyoga.com/MattsYogaWebPage ... utras.html

In my worthless opinion, Meditation is the Most Glorious skill I ever have,
or ever will, acquire in this life.
Ten years ago I was a depressed,neurotic,isolated,alcoholic,anxiety-ridden,insomniac,
getting 3 hours sleep a night,undxed & SUICIDAL.
My body was packing it in because I trained to exhaustion for 3 hours every day.
I turned to yoga as a 'good workout with therapeutic benefits'.
They taught me to meditate eventually. That night I went to bed at 6-slept straight through.
This life still sings its beautiful dreams.
I still feel what Holden Caulfield fought.

I just read David Lynch's 'Catching The Big Fish.'

Most of his ideas seem to come from meditation. He has been doing transcendental meditation everday for over 30 years. Advocates it's use in order about bringing together world peace amongst other things.

It's something i mean to start doing. Just have not got around to it.

He isn't alone. I preach the same type of deal. I'm not familiar with all types of meditaiton but my style is more "Zen" then anything.

syzygyish, Meditation, in a way, saved my life. I always thought the worse of everything until the time I started. Now, my outlook is so bright its starting to rub off on others around me (especially the 'selfawareness' aspects).
