I've been having some strange thoughts lately.

For one thing, I've been thinking, if there's one place in the world I would like to live besides Seattle, it would be England.

Sure, I will accept the fact that some of you said that Gordon Brown will be just as bad as Tony Blair when he takes over as Prime Minister there. That is your opinion! I will continue to be as well-rounded of a person as I have always been, and I will try my hardest to make all of you stay happy!

Also, I would love to see Des O'Connor on "Countdown" every day! He hasn't been on American TV since the original "Conentration" with Hugh Downs when he promoted his variety show! By the way, Hugh Downs is an American newsman who is still alive and well at the age of 85!

Let's pretend, for example I get off a plane at Heathrow Airport. Someone says, "Hello, welcome to London!" "What brings you here?" I say, "I'm moving!" Then, the person talking to me says, "You're moving!, where's your mum?" Now, if I wouldn't have joined this forum, I would have said, "What does that mean? A secret?" I now know that that is the way you all refer to your mothers!

Perhaps the most interesting thing about living in England is that when I want breakfast in the morning and I look in the cupboard for some Cheerios, they aren't there! If I talk to someone about it, they'll say, "What are you trying to do? Say hello to me?"

Honestly, I happen to have a fascination for England that I didn't have when I joined this forum!

We still have Cheerios over here. :D
Tony Blair/Gordon Brown are far better than any Conservative Prime Minister would be.

Yes, there's nothing like mistakenly calling your mum, "mom" over there, isn't there?

Also, I used to know someone who thought Cheerios and Toasted Oats were two different kinds of cereal, and he was British!

It's better than most countries IMO, but I'd prefer another European country. Preferable somewhere liberal, secular and moderately cold though. It's too violent here.

I would move to either New York City, Arizona, Italy, France, Germany, Greece, Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark or Britain. Tough to choose which one inparticular.

England reminds me of my hometown of Seattle, honestly. It rains a lot there.

So, did it surprise you when Hurricane Katrina struck?

not surprised it struck. surprised at how much damage occurred and just how unprepared the city was and how weak the safeguards were (the pumps, the levees, the backup generators for the pumps the evacuation plan for people who couldn't get out on their own).

but then again, just a couple months earlier cindy had hit and wrecked things pretty good and was only a category 1 hurricane.
