All I had to do was spot "Texas" in the article link and the rest writes itself.

It's interesting this happened in a high school. In elementary school we stood for the pledge and the national anthem. However, in junior high and high school we never did this because the pledge was never done anymore.

Seeing as the student in the OP is attending a public school (Needville High School), it is difficult to see how the school could be exempt from the Barnette opinion above.

I can't tell you what my favorite part of the Pledge is: The fact that it was written by an openly socialist man, or the fact that it was initially used to sell more flags.

I tried to sit it out once,seems silly to have to do it everyday.They just yelled at me,and I caved and stood up. I think that Jehovah's Witness won't do the pledge because of religious reasons.
