Does anyone have an inkling as to what symbol used today is the oldest? What is your favorite symbol?

I'd guess symbols for the sun or moon.

Ive read that the "only Egyptian heirglyphic still in common use today is the so called 'RX' symbol used by pharmacists". It doesnt derive from either the letter R, nor the letter X, but from the "Eye of Horus". So that makes it both old, and kinda cool.

At one time I cared about qualities that make designs appear to have meaning. I cared about fake symbols and I drew a lot of fake symbols. Some of them turned out to be real symbols I just didn't know about them or what they meant. I just happened to draw the same thing. I saw a pictorial character from another language that looks exactly like something I've doodled at least 10 times before.

I've thought about symbols but I haven't cared about them as much as I have about fake symbols.

wavy lines that mean water.

It appears in the oldest cuneiform writing and in almost every early writing system (symbolic). It persists through the middle ages (alchemists and astrologers of every culture used it) and even today as an easy to recognize symbol.
