why the world is how it is

so i watched a video of the game "the division" and i thought it was pretty cool. it started off describing how complex the world is and it says that maybe its too complex for us to keep running it smooth. i spend a lot of time thinking about this kinda stuff and it sounds like a good theory. humans are young compared to the universe. we're pretty smart but how smart are we really? i feel like people are capable of so much better than what's going on now. society hasn't seemed to change much since ancient times. our technology has advanced to the universal level our minds haven't. we have everything needed for a utopia on earth. only thing stopping us is ourselves.
