Terrorism across the world like never before? And another War on Terror? And Islamophobia (I need to know that last one, too, because I'm Muslim).

I don't see how anyone here can answer those questions satisfactorily. I appreciate that you might be anxious, and you have every right to be concerned; but, sadly, nobody can foretell what will happen, and anyone who claims to be able to vaticinate are mere bloviators.

Ugh. I can't believe I used the phrase "mere bloviators." I feel as if I've sullied myself.

Well Al-Qaida was just another Western sponsored bogeyman to get the gullible to become racist haters of Muslims in order to back further wars of Western Imperialism, bit like most wars actually, where we falsely accuse the enemy of cutting off babies hands in order to get the masses to sign up, you think people would have learnt by now how the West operates, but I guess most people cling to an excuse to hate and kill.

So Isis, I haven't looked into this, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was anything more than a Western hate propaganda tool.

"Islamophobia" is ignorance. "war on terror"

If Muslim extremist want to impose prehistoric law on me by threat of beheading, or worse. I would call that terrorism. If someone wishes to live by those laws by choice, okay, but not because of threat. The "rules" that ISIS has imposed/proclaimed, are uncivilized. As long as Muslims do not attempt to impose these rules on me, we can live sided by side easily. And we do. In my small community there are Muslims living among us but I can see the ignorant fear and hatred of them when they are in public places, or walking around their neighborhood in traditional dress. I see American families with little children living beside Muslim families with little children and the American families so hate filled and ignorant that they are teaching their children, as young a 3-4 years old not to associate with children their own age living 50 feet away. Ignorant people teaching children to fear and hate. Left alone, these children would play with each other and learn to understand and accept each other, the way things should be, minus ignorance.

It makes me sad that adults abuse their children like this.

Imagine all you ever hear or see about Muslims is that they killing Americans , and bombing America ....

In USA, every year on September 11, we are shown several television Hollywood movies, and documentaries about the September 11 attacks. As well as the movies about hunting for the "evil" Osama Bin Laden "mastermind" behind the attacks. These movies do instill fear, distrust, and hate towards Muslims. I think the majority of Americans think "Muslim = evil".

This shows how a handful of Muslims can shape the perception of all Muslims. If Muslims want to be taken seriously, then they need to stop killing Westerners. Somehow the religion permits these people to justify killing, as in the Muslim 911 bombing, Muslim Boston bombing, Muslim shoe bomber, Muslim Christmas tree bomber , Muslim trade center bomber ... if there is a bombing in America .. people will think it is a Muslim.

In the Bible study class I attend at our church, we recently had studied Islam, and I couldn't believe the out and out bigotry expressed by otherwise reasonable church members I've known for years. It was as if my Lutherans suddenly were transformed into fire breathing fundamentalist Southern Baptists!

If the US stays out these developments in Iraq will not cause 9-11 type terrorism to occur in the US heartland because -its all about the locals fighting each other. Therefore it will not cause an upward spike in the already endemic Islamaphobia of Americans.

If the US does reenter Iraq to impose some kind of order then that might well unite the warring locals against us, and might lead to some kind of exported terrorism, which in turn might lead to even more Islmaphobia in America.

Agree, if they do these airstrikes they're talking about it will inevitably lead to civilian deaths and be a huge propaganda coup for these Jihadists. It would put the local populace on their side, they don't want to be on America's side.
