It makes sense that "holy war" which is actually an oxymoron, would be an incorrect western interpretation

Jehad= funny they meerly make them selves human bobombs based on fairtales! Another reason why i see religion a waste of time and lives! The USA as well as the rest of the west will press forward in getting s**t done! Predator drones will kill those suicide bombers before they set themselves off and also more casualties on their part will be their own fault!

You realize that our using these drones to kill people from a distance is going to come back to bite us in the a**? Leaving a trail of shrapnel with U.S.A. stamped all over them amongst piles of bloody body parts carries a cost. It is because of our foreign policies that 9-11 happened. It is because of our foreign policies and actions that ISIS is marching across Syria and Iraq blowing people to pieces and it is because of our policies abroad, including these drone strikes, that eventually the technology that we are so proud of is going to introduce us to karma that is going to make 9-11 seem like a McDonalds romper room birthday party.
Just for your information. To begin with we were "friendly" with Osama Bin Laden and his "freedom fighters", however, during the war with Iraq (when they attacked Kuweit) we asked for an area for our planes (resupply, etc) in Saudi Arabia, and that's when Bin Laden turned against us (or at least that was his excuse), he thought it was a "sacrilege" as it was the land of Muhammad.

The USA doesn't care they do what it takes to send the message not to mess with the USA while at the same time protecting its people! Send more suicide bombers will lead to more fail and false promises of being in a magical place like heaven promising 72 virgins! If The USA wanted to it would merely drop 300 nukes and the middle east would just be a heap of memories on glass! The USA says bring it on! Do your worst there will be nothing left! You made your mistrake starting crap with the USA!

I agree. People don't seem to realise that if it had been our intention to destroy these countries they would have been destroyed, we can do to them 1000 times what they could do to us. But we don't do that, and we didn't declare full fledged wars on them, only on terrorists/extremists. We also try not to kill innocent people (eventho it does happen, it always does during a war), the Taliban, Al Qaeda, and other similar groups on the other hand, couldn't care less if they kill innocent people. Another thing that people don't seem to realise is that there was a lot more innocent people killed every year before we went to Iraq, than while we were there, due to all these groups fighting each other.
Also no, their wars (i.e. between these groups in the Middle-East) are not due to our foreign policies, by removing Saddam Hussein for example, we only accelerated the process (i.e. the next civil war), which would have happened with or without us, no matter what. Sunnis and Shias have been fighting each other for hundred of years, ever since Prophet Muhammad's death, long before America (the U.S.) even existed.

Although I can sympathize with the objectives of the video, there is in fact nothing incorrect in interpreting the Islamic concept of Jihad as "holy way".
1. Evidence from the Qur'an:
First of all, the parts of the Qur'an with the most frequent mentions of the word "Jihad" are Sura 8 and 9 which both deal with matters of war.
The most obvious statement is in Sura 9:38; which is translated directly as "Jihad" in the Muhsin Khan translation:
Both the preceding and following verses in Sura 9 rule out any peaceful interpretations of jihad in this verse. And there is no mention in the Qur'an of a lesser/greater Jihad distinction. And - as always - the pre-eminence of Sura 9 in the Qur'an should be recalled, as the concept of Naskh (abrogation) means that the verses of Sura 9 overrule previous Qu'ranic verses to the contrary in Sunni Islam.
2. Evidence from the Hadith:
Second of all, there are multiple authoritative Hadith from the two Sahihs which support the notion that the concept of Jihad indeed refers to holy war:
In fact, there are no less than 295 ahadith in Sahih Bukhari alone dealing with the concept of Holy War/Jihad (see the 2nd link below).
3. Lack of evidence for distinction between Lesser and Greater Jihad:
Third of all, the "Lesser (holy war) vs. Greater (Inner Struggle) Jihad interpretation has a very week scriptural basis (if any). It is based on the following Hadith (no official numbering, as it is not part of any official Hadith collection - see below for why):
The problem with the above Hadith is the following... The authenticity of Hadith in Islamic scholarship is divided into four categories (see the 8th link below):
- Sahih (authentic)
- Hasan (good)
- Da`if (weak)
- Mawdu (fabricated)
4. Summary:
Jihad = Holy War.

This has never been about anyone protecting its people. This has always been about stealing the resources of another country for financial gain. Typically, on your anti religious posts, i can agree with you but on this you are out in left field. What we have done to the rest of the world has consequences. We have been sticking our nose into the affairs of the middle east, playing nations against each other, arming our own enemies for decades. If you dont think that is going to have consequences, you are naive.
