What's the surprise here? She's pals with the socialist anti-Israel press, such people exist. I went out once with an editor of one of these rags, silly of me. He got really upset because I laughed at a story he ran about the Jewish National Fund's "make the desert bloom" project in which schoolchildren sent their sixty cents or whatever for forestation/irrigation projects. You know, that make the place liveable. Apparently this was genocidal. I asked him whether a campaign against tube socks was his next project, he took it poorly. Though another friend wondered if maybe the trees had been... sharpened into stakes! Weaponized!

Anyway. Every now and then someone will show up waving a Jew and saying look, look, a Jew agrees! And the Jews look at this very excited person and say, "And?" It's not a catechism-based culture, Judaism, you know. Faith and opinions are not commanded.

Yup. There really aren't that many anti-Zionist left-wing Jews. Apart from groups like the Satmar and Neturei Karta, anti-Zionists often don't see themselves as being particularly Jewish. I personally think that such a position is insane given the reality of what Israel and Jews are faced with daily, but they exist.

OP: I'd think twice about invoking Neturei Karta from now on if I were you, considering who those lot align with. You wouldn't endorse white supremacism (NK are happy to stand with the former leader of the KKK), so don't endorse those crazy bigots.

I think the anti-Israel types pump up the amount of people that actually agree with their views, and their importance. They aren't representative of the Jewish community, which is mainly Zionist.

In 2013 a demonstration of 10 thousand hasidic jews marched against Israel in NYC (click) so i do not know how you can qualitively say that doesnt represent a large amount.

I think its insane of zionists to want to have a country in a part of the world where they complain about the anti-semitism of their neighbours on a regular basis, when their contemporaries in places like western Europe or American face almost no anti-semitism.

I'm mainly curious at this point about how you got to be such a deep-dyed moron on the subject.

Of course its about the Talmud. You can't claim you want to have a Jewish state and then later on move the goalposts by saying its a secular state just to fit the narrative. Part of Israel's problem is its identity crisis and the fact it can't even make up its mind what it is; it seems to be a Jewish state or a secular state depending on who you ask and who is asking the question.

The zionists are there because of in part the holocaust, and the fact that the British promised both parties the lands and caused the conflict when they couldnt make good on those promises. The Americans enflamed the problem by giving disproportionate support to Israel. I have always maintained therefore that it should be the responsibility of the three countries that have created and maintained this crisis (Germany, USA and UK) to safeguard the sanctuary of the Jews. It certainly shouldn't be the burden of the indigenous arabs who made zero contribution historically to Jewish persecution.

I blame the historical anti semites in the west who didn't want to give sanctuary to the Jews in their own countries. Take it up with them.


Some places of course are more welcoming than others. I was thinking much more of affluent sky-rise cities like New York and London. Of course if you go to whistling dixie country then people in these areas have an issue with anyone of difference, not just Jews.

I don't get why he doesn't want what we had when we met (and what his homeland has a form of now) - peace and prosperity. No war, no racial hatred, no killing, no bombs, no death. Just people living side by side in peace. The fact that Israel has a 20% Arab Muslim population shows that the Israelis can do this. There's no need to have anything else. All that happens is that people die. There is no martyrdom in that.

Agreed and also in 1947 they had the best deal they ever had. This is a neurotic disease as should be treated as such.


However I would concede one thing to thomas. We do need to look into individual cases, and general conduct in any conflict.

Israel only permits arabs who renounce their Palestinian identity and if you watched the video in the OP it is clearly demonstrated by someone who has lived there that there is a difference in treatment according to whether you are Jewish or arab from the different coloured license plates to the Jews only roads. I see no reason why peace has to come at the cost of Palestinian dignity and self determination. Perhaps you have greater insight into that question than I do.
