So given that most of the time people of African descent or from the African diaspora are depicted negatively in the media I thought it might be worth creating a thread which discusses some of the positive accomplishments over the centuries. The scope for this lies within the African continent including Northern Africa. Just reel off the names/civs/monuments/pieces of art. Mixed race individuals can be included if only because the one drop rule still holds sway.
I think its a shame that the dominant culture has regressed from one steeped in blues jazz and ancient african beliefs to one steeped in you know what. We're all responsible for propagating society's prejudices because they exist in the collective consciousness let's diminish that responsibility somewhat lol
Paul Laurence Dunbar
Alexandre Dumas
Samuel Coleridge Taylor (Hiawatha not Kubla Kahn)
Maya Angelou
Langston Hughes
John Coltrane
Basquiat
