A few years ago, a new BBQ restaurant had opened up in the neighborhood, and so my wife, daughter and I had had lunch there. The very first thing I had noticed was Fox News blaring on the TV set. I had asked the server if the channel could be changed, as I hated Fox, and he muttered something about being unable to change said channel. From then on till we left, the owner/manager gave me the stare of death. I don't know if Fox playing for the full business hours had had anything to do with the restaurant's demise, but the place eventually had gone out of business. Glad to know the Pacific Northwest is a long way from the Bible Belt.

How somebody's life can entirely revolve around the pages of one book I will never understand. The only way I can begin to comprehend is you must be really cut off from God if you need a book to tell you. You have no feel for God if you cannot rely on anything but the pages of a book. It makes you seem kinda souless and dead, like a sham entity or something.

Several times I've been in places of business when MSNBC or CNN was on the TV (when there was a TV) but I've never been bothered by it. Correction: I haven't allowed myself to be bothered by it. I guess you're either obsessed with making a show of being progressive in public or you actually believe that Fox uses some kind of subliminal messaging to brainwash people. . Don't laugh because one of your kind on this forum DOES believe that.
If their business went tits up then playing Fox (or whatever else) on the TV would be one of the last reasons of many possibilities for their demise unless all of their customers were hysterically liberal which I doubt.

Uh, no... I just don't want to hear one sided propaganda filled with half truths and out and out untruths about the President and the senate blaring at me when I'm eating. And you don't have to be a "hysterical liberal" to feel bothered by it. After all, while Spokane Valley and Spokane might not be Seattle, neither is it anywhere close to being the Bible Belt.

I am not a fan of restaurant t v while eating. Luckily they keep the volume muted and the captions on around here.

And you wanna talk Bible Belts? Newsflash there are more churches in NYC (over 6000) than in the entire state of Oklahoma, so which is the true Bible Belt? I am doing a bit of research, a lot of places that are not known as Bible Belt localities actually have more churches.

I couldn't find an accurate number of churches in Spokane, Washington but there were over 400 listings in the yellow pages online.

Oh no, I'm not denying the existence of churches in the Spokane area - I attend one, as a matter of fact- but I like to think most are of the mainline persuasion, rather than evangelicals.

And to hell with what any other patrons want to listen to.
After all, it's you're civic duty to protect the others from the poison that is conservativism.

I bet they were glad you were there that day to save them from the brainwashing they were sure to get from Fox news even if they weren't actually listening to it.

Oh, I have no doubt that that owner/manager hung on every one of Fox's talking heads' words, as from proof of that stare he gave me for the entire time we were there.
And the place was overpriced from what food we ordered, too.

He's probably dealt with one progressive too many.

If you're as dirt poor as you're always bragging about why were you even there?

Earth to Ana: The population of Oklahoma: 3.8 million. The population of NYC: 8.4 million.

New York City has more than twice the population of the entire state of Oklahoma. So one would expect that town to have more places of worship than the entire sooner state.

If you had given us the number of churches RELATIVE to the population that wouldve been somewhat meaningful.

The place had actually just opened, so I doubt he'd have had time to be influenced by us terrible, terrible progressives.
And as far as the price is concerned - I have eaten in many restaurants that were pricey, but in almost every other case I actually got what I paid for. This BBQ joint hardly gave us our money's worth.

I'm sure he'd dealt with them aside from the business.


And that would most likely be the reason they went out of business, not Fox. To spare myself from sh***y restaurants I read reviews on them (urbanspoon, tripadvisor, etc.... ) first to find out what's what. If a place just opened I let other people be the guinea pigs.
