two youtube pranksters, of middle east ethnicity, pass by a US cop, arguing and having a minor scuffle with each other while dressed in stereotypical western clothing and talking in american accents. The cop does nothing.

Twenty minutes later, the same men walk past the same officer, and just as before, they begin arguing. This time however, they are dressed in traditional middle east clothing and talk in arab accents. This time however the cop does not recognise them and decides to intervene.

Explain this to me, derp squad.

Looks fake.
I'm betting the cop would have at least had something to say about the shoving match that took place in the 1st go-around. Cops love to have the biggest dick and they're unlikely to pass up a chance to show it.
In the 2nd go-around he would have put both of them on the wall before searching either for the obvious office safety reasons. Better yet, put them both on the wall and call for backup before doing any searching.

It's no secret that there is racism in American law enforcement. As much as the American Criminal Liberties Union would like us to believe? Probably not but it is still present. It's also no secret that black and hispanic cops tend to be a bit racist toward..........you guessed it, other blacks and hispanics.

It is. They say on the video that it is a "dramatization of previous events that occurred with us".

Thats all speculative, and i am fairly sure its illegal to impersonate an officer in america. Bearing in mind they posted this on the internet they would have been apprehended pretty quickly.

Its called institutionalised racism for a reason. Those black and latino officers are racist against their own demographic for the same reason as the white officers. To uphold the status quo.

Even if its dramatised, then it still comes down to economies of scale. The most important fact is the officer reacted differently under the same circumstances bar the attire and accent of the men. So the original point stands.

The "officer" is an actor. They gave him those words to say. He acted differently because they paid him to act differently.

It would be tough to prove they were actually impersonating a cop and if they didn't get caught in the act there's not much chance of getting prosecuted over the Youtube video alone.

That's part of it but there is also personal experience.....

I am not talking about the video specifically, i am referring to the alledged incident that the video was a 'dramatisation of'.

Which is "proof" of nothing.

So?

If the event happened in the context as the video illustrates, then yes it is.

So reenactments arent proof of anything.

If the event even happened, If being the operative word in this case, and it's a big if.

Just admit you're grasping at straws.

The two men in the video call it racial profiling but the cop in the re-enactment (and presumably in the actual event) ignored race. Instead what he reacted to was a adherence to middle eastern culture norms. When presenting as american or americanized, the men get a pass- despite one of them being pretty dark skinned. The men say that they get different reactions when they wear their "culture clothes" and when they don't. It is the presence or absence of cultural assimilation that is getting the reaction, not their race.

Cultural profiling maybe? But not racial profiling.

Like Raptor, I also find it a bit odd that a cop would not react at all to an escalating scuffle. So that makes the re-enactment suspect. It may have been roughly like that but I'm wondering what the differences between the event and the re-enactment are.

It is not just the police. This is a rabidly racist country. The more Conservative regions of this country run rampant with disgusting racial rants.

I do not discount the legitimacy of any place on the internet which allows political discourse, so I make particular mention of Craigslist political forums in "red" states as example. The forums and the R&R sections. I could go through my region of CL posts and find the use of the N word over a thousand times over the course of the past year. Not counting the disgusting racial imagery that would not be permitted on most sites. Years 2008 and 2012 postings on CL look like rhetoric from slave and plantation era America.

I think a lot this "racism" is really "machoism".

Cops are ready to put the beat-down on *anyone*.
