How's your polar leaning with this definition (left/right)?

Left: assumes people are inherently bad, so they need to be controlled
Right: assumes people are inherently good (self-policing), and require little control

That definition is from a political philosophy class I took on the general differences between the two.

I think that those statements overly simplify different mindsets. There was an interesting article a few months? ago about the difference between many liberals vs conservatives. Article here For example, conservatives have more authoritarian views and are more anxious in new situations.

The "family values" or socially conservative right seem to want to turn their religious and moral views into law. That's as much of a nanny state as taxing soda.

Sooo.....disagree. :)
