The language may be harsh, but it is at least easy to understand. We beat about the bush too much and never say what we mean.

Is this one of those things that make us liars, frauds and hypocrites, or are we just trying to be nice and failing miserably?

A wife asks her husband "Does this make me look fat?" He lies and says "No". Out she goes looking hideously overweight and nobody will tell her.

Have you ever talked at length on a Christian chat site? After a time go over to an atheist chat site, except for the foul language, the attitude is the same; anyone who disagrees with the majority opinion is an idiot, anyone who gets on the bad side of the regulars is flamed. One would expect the differences in religious opinion would make a difference, but they don't?

Yet the atheists too have their contradiction; they boast of being "free thinkers" and "rationalists" until that is you attempt to defend religious beliefs rationally. Then you encounter dogmatism that would do a fundementalist proud.

When conservatives were in opposition, they screamed about the deficit and claimed the liberals were bankrupting America. When they formed the government, they said deficits were over rated and nothing to worry about.

Liberals condemn the violence Israel commits in Middle East against its Arab neighbors but rationalize the violence its Arab neighbors commit against Israel.

Are we all liars, frauds and hypocrites? Is that what is required for the world to function? Or have we just gotten so used to being false, that we can nolonger be any other way?

Could the world tolerate an honest man?

That we are all liars is a given, but we lie when we need to, we lie when it would be best to tell the truth and we lie about things we claim to care most about.

But we are also frauds; we are not the people we claim to be. We are hypocrites, proclaiming a belief with deep ernest conviction and then violating this belief in the very next instant. When called on it, we don't admit what we did; we try to rationalize the violation.

So torture is called criminal when done by the enemy and a necessary evil when done by us. Wire tapping is an invasion of privacy when committed in a totalitarian state but "homeland security" when committed by the FBI.

We seem to be unable to seperate the fantasy of what we pretend to be from the reality of what we are.

I have to admit that I have drawn the same conclusions, especially concerning Atheism and Theism.

No one can know everything. We do make generalizations to cover up our ignorance, but sometimes that comes to bite us in the ass.

This is what makes life intersting - this is diversity

Imagine everyone told the truth? - what would we be? , would truth be based on fact? -would everyone have to have the same facts?

Lying is what got us here today...even the animals lie to each toher to gain advantage and be ontop - therfore the survival of the fittest goes on. -it's a trait like any other that helps evolution continue.

---Maybe M is just Lie-ing to E

Lying got us here and lying is why many problems still exist. I dont think it's the 'end.'

Truth is based on fact, even if people would rather live in pipe dreams to avoid the truth. Lying to protect a friend from legal trouble or something of that nature is understandable, because it's a moral-based lie. But deliberately following a lie is just absurd. Truth would help people evolve much faster if people could get their s**t together and deal with facts.
Some facts are undetermined, and are open for debate. But illogical and irrational theories based on granduers of delusion need to be cast aside though.
