Not very new news but I see no one talked about it here yet.

It's obvious that the new king took a changing turn in the country's foreign policy.

Just another of reason why the USA invaded the wrong country back in 2003. "Shock and Awe" for the Saudi Royal Family and all its minions is not going to happen but still would be the right thing to do.

Just because nuclear power in this country was conceived of as a way of producing fissile materials for use in nuclear weapons does not mean that every country is as bloodthirsty and evil as we are.

Maybe the Saudies just wanna keep up their lifestyle after the oil is gone. Though they could melt some of that desert sand for glass- and pave some of the desert "Empty Quarter" with a Delaware sized patch of solar cells to achieve the same goal of endless electricity.

But even if it really is just for generating fissile material for bombs it is probably in response to Iran's nuclear program, and not for aggressive reasons. Or that's what they would say. And Iran would use this deal to justify their own nuclear program. But whats wrong with a cute little nuclear arms race between two nations on the Persian Gulf? What could POSSIBLY go wrong with that?

But whats interesting is that they are getting cozy with Russia. Just when you get the playbook right( That one team is the USA, Israel, the Gulf States, and Saudia Arabia. And the other team is Iran, Assad, Hazbollah, Russia, and China) now the Saudies are doing business with Putin! What happened to the good old days of the Cold War when things were simple?

And they want Russian built nuclear reactors? Sixteen from the same folks who built Chernoble?

Thank goodness for MAD, hey?

It could be solely for power generation, and nuclear power plants are a great thing which every country should have if they're viable, but I'm surprised to see the Saudis going so blatantly against their interests.

Iran hasn't opened a new oil field in over 30 years.

My guess is that they don't want to go back to living in mud huts when the oil runs out.

And they sure seem to benefit from being just several months from having atomic bombs. They have been reaping those benefits for like 10 years now?

The great fear of the U.S. and the West is if one country gets Nuclear Power, they will use the fuel to make nuclear weapons, leading to a regional arms race.

News flash: EVERYBODY will be living in mud huts when the oil runs out. Our whole civilization is built on cheap oil. When that's gone, we will all be living in mud dugouts. Well, the 3 million or so humans that will remain after the Dieoff.

The old King offered to buy Russian weapons, if Russia would stop supporting Syria. Russia declined.

The Russians also have the old King's man saying on tape he paid for all those Islamic bombings in Russia.

Russia sells arms, but has refused to supply the Saudi, they also sell oil, so nuclear power is all that if left.

The United States has not built a reactor in thirty years, everyone else is using old American designs.

Russia is more then twenty years ahead in Reactor Design. They have the first commercial Breeder Reactor on line.

Like Air Defense Systems and the latest jets, they do not sell the new stuff.

Where they have sold them, Eastern Europe, the deal is spent fuel is returned.

This was a Saudi offer in the middle of a war, where Russia supports the other side.

Being a producer of Uranium, and having developed the ability to process it into fuel rods, Iran is set to become the regional electric company. Pakistan and India are huge close markets for gas and electric.

The only power the Saudi have is the bribe. They do not have a military they have advanced Police, they lack Technology, Manufacturing, and depend on imported labor.

The week before they said they were going to buy Nuke Bombs from Pakistan.

A month before they were demanding The United States supply Atomic Bombs and planes and missiles to deliver them. The United States refused.

These Sand People with their Desert Tribal Gods are never to be trusted with weapons of mass destruction.
