I have, and I'm Muslim, they're very soothing... they're somewhere in between chanting and singing. Have you at least heard an adhaan, or call to prayer?

Saudi Arabia used to broadcast Quranic chanting and morning prayers on shortwave radio, maybe 12 or 13 years ago. The signal was weak but listenable here in California, around 7 pm Pacific time. I found the chants fascinating, as well as the prayers, which seemed to just go and go without stopping. By 2005 that sunrise (for the Middle East) broadcast had fallen victim to budget cuts.  At one point Egypt broadcast a dual language prayer service, aimed for Muslims in the UK. The imam would pray in Arabic, and then the English translation would be broadcast. I never heard that one.

I find driving rain also soothing to wake up to.
