Oh, I'm a Christian and I don't like going to church...mainly because I don't like dealing with people...and I have to act as if I'm like everybody else....It's never safe to be yourself around those people...well, that probably applies to any kind of social situation...
I'm a visual/kinetic learner...but I do enjoy listening to sermons by Dr. Timothy Keller...I order his sermon CDs and listen to them at home...that takes care of my weekly bread...:)
I wish I could find a church that I can enjoy worshipping in...however, this time I will be wiser and will not get too involved...will not show my true self...I'm done with that. Not gonna trust them anymore..and that's probably beneficial to myself and to them...

I'm a Christian. I don't particularily like going to church either. The priests at my church give excessively long boring sermons and seem to love listening to the sound of their own voice. When I was younger the organs drove me nuts, maybe an aspie sensitivity? (Sorry God, although maybe you made me that way for a reason). The Father who gave the best sermons retired recently too because of health issues. :(

I completely understand that. Some of the people at my church are some of the biggest hypocrites of all, they act righteous yet are very unforgiving at times. I try to look for the few that really have kind, accepting souls.

When I was a Christian, I loved the Calvary Chapel. i know it's a franchise but I don't know if they teach and practice the same things. Anyhow, the one I went to was like bible school. You went on Sunday mornings, it was fold up chairs at the Vet's Hall and you studied a chapter of the New Testament. The basket was never passed around and the Pastor would quote something out of I Corinthians about giving with joy in your heart. (don't tithe out of guilt or obligation)
Fairly straightforward and people were friendly but not overbearing. Sunday nights they went over the Old Testament but I rarely went because of work.

I stopped going when a political flyer was circulated (separation of Church and State) and then made the full break with Christian faith shortly after. (too many plotholes in the Bible and any Christian Dogma)
But I still admire Calvary Chapel for its straightforward and literal approach.

I'm not a Christian, and I absolutely love Catholic mass.

iv been both christian and aethiest. i have strong views maybe even hatred for the church as an organisation and the terrible things they have allowed or encouraged to go on over the years. men will do what they can and use/abuse who and what they can to get what they want, the church is just another pawn in mens games.
if there is a God for which i still hold strong hope and belief for then i take will his word direct from his book and not listen to a priest and hear how a mere man interprets to be Gods word.
no i don't go to church and i think they should all be knocked down simple as.
yes i do believe in God but have hatred for the church and how they have used him.

I'm Christian, but I pretend to be the opposite of whatever happens to be the prevalent opinion if the opposite isn't Christian.

That's how I am with politics.

Person asks me "what party are you?"
I respond "Whichever one you're not."

I tried the church thing, cos apparently that's what christians are supposed to do, but i'm not really comfortable with it.

the 'know and be known' stuff is creepy. i also dislike all the tenseness and drama around collecting money - it seems tacky.

i just play some sacred music at home or do some reading if I'm feeling 'churchy'. i guess it's homechurching for me. churches are handy for weddings and funerals.

In church, I lean back in my pew and draw floorplans remodeling the church into a 12 unit affordable housing complex.

Of course, I have to avoid stern looks from nuns.
