THE European Union is planning a power grab for the UK welfare state in a bid to take control of pensions, benefits and the minimum wage.
Senior MEPs fear Brussels is planning a “social union” but legislation is being held back until after June’s referendum.
Already plans for a common European unemonth by Commissioner Marianne Thyssen and would start with the eurozone countries but would see other EU members put under strong pressure to join.
The concerns have been highlighted by Tory MEP David Campbell Bannerman who has said that the European Commission is holding back a massive amount of centralising legislation until after the referendum.

Do you really think the UK would agree to this, should this be true?
Absolutely. The European Commission already has sole competence (i.e. legislative power) over many policy areas that the British parliament should be deciding.

Wouldn't be surprised the EU wants even more power over its members(Member states according to them). Just hope a lot of my fellow young people start voting with logic and not emotion or self interest when it comes to matters of national sovereignty. A lot of sheep seem to think if we leave the Eu we will be defenseless ignoring the fact we still have NATO or that we will lose control of our borders and be flooded with migrants magically if we leave? As for economy I would rather the chance of being a little worse off (If all the Eu funded and government funded reports are to be believed) then basically hand over our right to govern ourself to individuals with unknown agendas who we cant hold to account?
