Take a look at the Differences between the renaissance fair, and the middle ages.

The 1300s through the 1600s AD:

Rabid Antisemitism
Profound Racism
Profound Sexism
Profound ownership and oppression of Women.

Low life expectancy.
High Infant Mortality rates
Unsafe to drink water, so alcoholism is almost 100 % assured.

High food insecurity.

No Electricity
No Running water
Insanely horrible Medical treatment
No Preventative measures

High probably of getting sick.
Bad living conditions
Disgusting and disease filled environment, bad sanitation and really bad hygiene.

Although nearer the end than the Beginning, Latin Europe still ruled Europe as individual countries of the Former roman empire (not the dutch as is celebrated in the hippy party).

France, a broken Spain, Portugal and Italy...
And they were horrible world leaders..

This is a Renaissance fair.

A hippy party.
Everybody is Welcome
Probably has Jewish people working with the legalities of it
Modern Technology

AMERICAN (yes, AMERICAN) food and drink.

So Why do people celebrate a twisted, and falsified deep past at the Renaissance fair ?

My daughter did RenFairs for several years.Great arts and crafts stuff, cool clothes and food.
Just all in the spirit of fun,it doesn't have to be realistic.Who would buy food from a one eyed beggar with lice and boils nowadays?
We don't celebrate Samhain like we used to,I've yet to see a hollowed out turnip for a jack-o-lantern.
