For those of you who don't know, Jeranism is a proponent of flat Earth theory (kind of like BanDodger) and he runs a quite popular YouTube channel (linked above).

Anyway, Jeranism has accepted my challenge for a formal video debate with rules, and I made a thread for said debate on the flat Earth society forum. Because he has been a bit busy the debate has been put off, but now it's finally going to be happening. We are now Skype contacts and also Jeranism released a video in which he mentions our debate (that link will automatically bring you to the right time in the video).

In a nutshell, Jeranism will post the first video, I will post a response on my second channel, and we will go back and forth from there. If one of us fails to address a point then it will be assumed that we agree with it, and we will have 3 active points at any given time as to not make the videos last too long. I will post all of my videos on the Flat Earth Society Forum thread, and I will post all the videos we make on this thread too if there is any interest in following this dabate.

Jeranism's video will be out in the next few days, and then immediately after that I will begin work for my response which will probably include some animation because I have been learning about that lately and I have been needing an excuse to practice.

If you are interested in following this then enjoy the show and may the best model win!

It's not live, you can just see it any time after the video is released.

Jeranism has finally finished and posted his video:

I haven't seen it yet, I will watch it right after I post this and then in the morning I will get to work on my video response.

Yeah. I had some sound problems that have been resolved and now I'm working on the visuals, but I'm having trouble being motivated to do it.

I mean... Yeah. You're young.
And maybe you'll learn some video editing and vfx skills, that can't hurt.

But really... Why argue? Flat earth isn't about the earth being flat or not. I mean... This isn't even your regular bilderberg iluminati everyone is against me -conspiracy. Flat earth is just a ridiculous cry out against the lack of intuitiveness of the world.
It's sort of a "water is an element - H²O is a conspiracy" thing.
People not having gotten over the fact that reality is confusing and complicated and their senses not an appropriate tool.

So... Why do you bother?

I think debate is fun, and this particular conspiracy theory is very related to my special interest. I do not expect to convince Jeranism of anything, but I may convince some of his followers that the things he says are BS and also I find it intrinsically rewarding and fun.

Point taken.
Well, have fun

..I'm sure this'll end in namecalling... What's the flat-earther insult for someone who drank the kool-aid? Glober? Baller?
And in turn, I guess there's no insult for flat earthers, besides...just that...

I watched some of the video, don't have patience for the whole thing. It seems like if you explain the north star, you tear down much of his theory. You can do it! :nerdy:

You wouldn't want this guy to think you're chicken, would you? :)

What was that numerology stuff in the beginning? Are you going for some bonus or something? Are you one of the "original 10?"

The flat earth debate is nothing but a spurious red herring psy-op to communally reinforce individuals in so-called "truther" movement groups, a bit like the SJW-ism and other variances of ideological collectivism promoted by those in so-called "skeptic/freethinker" groups like "Freethought blogs" and Atheism+. You might as well believe the earth is about 2000 to 4000 years in chronological age if you subscribe to theories like this, and it gives those who believe in more reasonable conspiracies (still conjectural) a bad name due to various nutpicking and guilt by association counterarguments.

Is my belief in a round earth the result of a vast nefarious conspiracy?

Or is this renewed Flat Earth debate itself the thing thats the result of a vast nefarious conspiracy?

I wish that you paranoid folks would all make up your minds! Lol!
