Are there others here who are studying Martin Heidegger, the philosopher?

More picking around the edges indirectly by way of other people's lectures.

I probably should give him a read one of these days though.

I've been exposed to his work.

I feel harmony with some of his notions.

I don't like that he was sympathetic to Nazi Germany, though.

Haven't studied him, but I seem to recall that he was "a boozy beggar who could drink you under the table."

But seriously, I had a very superficial introduction to him and I found his ideas either opaque or unconvincing,, and I haven't gone back. What brings you to your ALL CAPS question?

The Jewish journalist, Hannah Arendt, who had coined the phrase, "The banality of evil," when she had covered the Eichmann trial in Israel, had had an affair with Heidegger years prior to that. She had defended Heidegger, saying he had confided in her that his Nazi affiliation was the worst mistake of his life.

And as for the Nazi angle, while the party appreciated an intellectual's stamp of approval, they personally ridiculed his philosophy as gibberish.
