This is something I have begun to be wondering about. First they elect the most conservative governor in America to head their state and secondly they support Trump in the 2016 election. Does Wisconsin now legally count as a red state. And is the state's values mostly conservative leaning?

I wouldn't go that far. i don't think Wisconsin is like, say, Wyoming/Utah when it comes to "Red State-ness."

But the strength of unions has definitely gone down recently. There's just less "blue collar," manufacturing-type work overall. This probably accounts, at least somewhat, for why Wisconsin has gone more conservative.

One of their senators is Tammy Baldwin, the first LGBT U.S. Senator, and one of the most liberal (picture a lesbian Bernie Sanders)

I'd say it leans red, but is not truly a red state. It might be completely blue in 2020, who knows?

That can be the case. But Wisconsin seems to be even more conservative in the way its run than some Red states like Utah, Kentucky and even Texas.

Outside of Madison and Milwaukee, Wisconsin does seem to be leaning red. The voting districts have been ordered to be redrawn by the courts because they were judged unconstitutionally partisan.
