There seem to be this trend to political advisers trying to spin the stupid thing their politican say as "strategic" and is is getting more and more far fetched each time.
I'm all for people speaking their mind, but that is precisely so we can call them out for stupid thing they say and praise the good things.
However there is nothing strategic about saying off the cuff remarks out of ignorance without bothering to check the facts, not matter how popular the remarks may be at the time.
Strategy is based on an actual objective, that means understanding the detail and having a viable goal.
Yes it is nominally strategic to try an rally support/cooperation before you figure out a viable solution of getting others to do that however there is no guarantee it will result in anything positive, but this isn't what we are talkign about.
During an election it is strategic to say popularist things as we all know that winning election doesn't have to be about detail and in fact too much detail tend to narrow your support.
However after an election saying dumb things, can be exactly that. There is nothing remotely strategic about saying stupid s**t. Sure you can preach to the choir and wind up your enemies, but you have more to loose.
Yes there is a slim chance there is some grand scheme at play and this is a clever ruse, but lets be honest dumb comments some from people with too much confidence in their own options and
