Which came first? The chicken or the egg? The egg. So where did the egg come from? Well if you accept the evolutionary theory, One step before the chicken in evolution. The chicken's origin is the common ancestor as well as anything else right?

What's the sound of one hand clapping? Just hit your fingers against your palm. There you go.

If a tree falls in the woods, and no one's around to hear it, does it make a sound? Yes, sound is vibration.

I must be missing something...

I would say the intestine. I would guess that a tapeworm like creature existed. Then when creatures with intestines came around, parasidic tapeworm traits appeared (like how some animals grow fur if they end up in a cold enviroment). The parasidic breed survived more often and eventually its anscestor died off. This is assuming tapeworms cannot feed themselves in an alternate manner. I think that makes sense.

if you take the question metaphorically, i.e. the progenitor or the means to procreate, it becomes more apparent why people think it a difficult question.
i tend to saying that they both came hand in hand necessarily. (that still leaves the useless but interesting idea to ponder what actually existed first: a progenitor or a means of procreating)

if sound is vibration, there is sound. if sound is the mental state of perceiving vibration, there is not. (same question is whether color is a certain wavelength of light or the sensation of those wavelengths on a retina)

Why does the Paperwork Reduction Act disclaimer require its own page, whenever you send a job to the printer?

I had an argument with someone about the tree question. Of course, I agree with your answer. The answer is so obvious yet people make such a huge deal out of it...I don't really understand.

If Jimmy cracked corn and no one cares then why did they make a song about it? Something I've heard.

The hot dog bun companies want to rip off the public. Got that idea off the movie Father of the Bride...it sounds like a pretty accurate explanation.

The ends justify the means

Why is everyone looking for an answer to the great question when nobody bothered to figure out what the great question was?

Why do you park cars on driveways and drive them on parkways?
