Dear Real Conservatives: What is the new battle plan?

Hi all. This thread is mostly directed at the conservatives ... especially the paleocons.

Donald Trump's approval rating has already taken a nosedive. It's not very hard to see why. The guy is a pathological liar who has betrayed his supporters. Back in 2016, he told Alex Jones "I won't let you down."

Did he let AJ down? You bet he did! He claimed that he would drain the swamp. Instead, the swamp is flooding. He sorta implied that he would end corporatism. He has fed it. He implied that he would end the military-industrial war machine. He didn't. He made himself look like a paleoconservative. In actuality, he is just another neocon.

A lot of people nowadays hate Alex Jones, but I still believe that AJ deserves a certain degree of respect. Anyone who is a vocal opponent of the corporatist military-industrial complex deserves respect.

So ... what is the new battle plan? Trump is a backstabber. What the Hell do we do now? The Republican Party is still run by multinational megacorporations instead of real Christian Americans from the rural heartland. How do we fix this now?

P.S. If you seriously believe that the corporate military-industrial complex is "no big deal" then don't bother posting in this thread. Take your neoconservative ass back to r/conservative or Conservapedia. I have nothing more to say to you.

My guess is the conservatives will continue sitting back watching the liberals continuing to go bananas over Trump 24/7 for the next 7.5 years.

You are implying that conservatives are just trolls who have no real moral principles or ideals.

There are plenty of conservatives who want to be taken seriously even thought they never take anyone else seriously. I don't think that all conservatives are like this, but many conservatives (especially internet conservatives) are like this.

What conservatives are working on now ....

1. Get rid of the ACA penalty that millions have to pay.
2. Double the standard deduction (which interestingly, may make renting more attractive)
3. Cut the tax rates
4. Reinstate the full contribution for medical flexible spending plans (which the ACA cut in half)
5. Increase permitted HSA contributions.

Who gets a tax cut? Everyone? The working class? The billionaires?

I'm not going to side with anyone who wants to give billionaires another tax cut.

No that's you putting words in my mouth. I'm saying I think conservatives are simply not into all the hyperbole, sensationalism, paranoia and the like.



Well considering liberals are now going around the internet accusing a lot them of being Russian spies....

Conservatives think money is more wisely and beneficially spent by billionaires than government.

So, conservatives think tax cuts on billionaires is a win for the economy.

Billionaires don't tend to spend their money altruistically.

I wouldn't trust having a government run, primarily, by wealthy people. Most wealthy people want to remain as wealthy as they "presently" are all through their lives.. Policies which favor the "common people" might serve to lessen that possibility. They wouldn't be in their "best interest."

Though it would be nice if extant governments, even those of a liberal/democratic/"socialist" nature, spent their money more wisely.

I don't think anyone does.

However, regardless, conservatives retort ....

The billionaires I know of are all described as philanthropists. But it's not like I've gone down the whole list. But at the same time I can see them wanting to keep up with the likes of Gates and Buffett, just for the sake of bragging rights if nothing else. Plus I'm sure they get big write offs for it.

I'm not. I'm just following my self-interest here. The billionaires are controlling and destroying our lives, so we should punish them. That is in our best interest.

Yeah ... the billionaires spend their money "wisely". They certainly follow their own self-interest.

Billionaires don't need to care about us. Politicians need to care about us to an extent because we can vote them out.

This thread has been disappointing so far. Aren't conservatives supposed to glorify simple folk who live in the American Heartland and praise Jesus Christ? All I can see here is a bunch of people who are worshipping bankers and other sociopathic economic parasites.

That is really what "conservatism" is all about. Even Reagan talked about abolishing abortion, and made reference to the Bible and school prayer, to get elected. Once elected, all that he cared about were tax cuts, increasing spending on the military, fighting the Sandinistas, and cutting regulations. He did nothing about abortion. Otherwise, the Repugs would not be able to use it as a perennial election issue. He wasn't much different from Trump. Trump is just a lot more personally corrupt.

Don't get me wrong, the fact that Trump wanted his approval speaks volumes.

I suspect Trump ordeal is not over yet, but I doubt he will survive for a second term. The honeymoon period will wane. There is only so much stupidity the US can take, and it will be a bipartisan sentiment.

Bare in mine you can't go purely on approval rating, these fluctuate, and tend to dip before campaigns start.

Who's the "we" you're referring to, in the OP?

It's a good thing you're a Canadian, then, and don't have to worry-about (or, "side-with" / not side-with) ANYONE / anything, in the U.S.----and, don't have to give it, another thought.

It's interesting..... I'm thinking if we Americans slammed another country / another's leaders, etc. as much / often as non-Americans slam US, we'd get ridiculed / denigrated six ways, from Sunday----AND, probably by EVERY single other country, that is represented, here, on WP----BUT, let practically every country represented on WP, slam the U.S., and that's TOTALLY acceptable, it seems. What's wrong with this picture?
