Trump stands by his fan base!
He refuses to call today's act of road rage terrorism an act of terrorism, primarily because the guy who drove into a group of counter protesters was a Neo Nazi white supremist. In other words, Trump is refusing to turn against his most dedicated fan base.
We have more to fear from the Neo Nazis than we do from Islam, because the POTUS is happily siding with the people who want to gas everybody who is not a neurotypical WASP.
The violence is not coming from "all sides" in Charlottesville. It is coming exclusively from the white supremacy movement. America once fought a war to prevent National Socialism from taking over the world. Now we have a POTUS who is refusing to make a stand against National Socialism in my country, because he knows that the National Socialists are his most rabid fan base these days.
I too stand by my fan base.
Probably wouldn't stand by his fan base but I do stand by my fan base.IMG_6147

From what I saw both sides were prepared, eager, and willing to brawl yesterday. The "alt right/neo nazis/white nationalist" goons were readily identified by the media, beyond "counter protester" the goons brawling with them have not been identified.
While it is a good assumption to believe the car terrorist was some sort of righest beyond registered republican we are not being told anything about this guy's politics and background. Not even the usual interview with family, neighbors etc, very odd.

Perhaps that is true, but the white nationalists were the one side that was ready to commit murder in the process. There is a difference between getting in a fistfight and trying to murder a crowd of people by speeding a car into them.
I would say the scale of the white nationalist aggression kinda overtook anything the counterprotesters were up to the second one of the white nationalists attempted an act of mass murder.

One terrorist is not Trumps fan base and I do not believe anything Trump says. I am not arguing equivalence, I am arguing against the "only one side" meme that Biden and so many others are spouting in trying to define the incident, facts be dammed.

Well, maybe I would be able to give the rabidly racist part of Trump's fan base the benefit of the doubt that this was just one guy..... If it were not for how willing they turned out to be in celebrating the fact that one of them stepped up the violent aggression big time. And if it were not for the fact that Trump subtly condones white nationalist violence by removing neo Nazis from the FBIs radar and by refusing to call this one man's actions an act of terrorism. Under any other president, the driver would be facing capital charges. Instead, just one second degree murder charge and no attempted murder charges tacked onto it. And the driver is celebrated as a hero by David Duke and the other openly vocal Trump supporters.
I will admit that I am frustrated over this and perhaps I am dismissing reason in favor of passionate rage. Then again, a lot of other people are in the same boat as I am with that currently.

She said she told her son: “I told him to be careful. [And] if they’re going to rally to make sure he’s doing it peacefully.” She said he didn’t say anything about the rally possibly being extremist and she had no idea he was involved when she returned home from dinner on Saturday night. She really didn’t know what the alt-right rally meant, only to think that it had “something” to do with Trump.
I think the odds of this guy not being a Trump supporter are pretty slim.
And I think this guy makes me want to invent time travel just so somebody could go back in time and convince his father to wear a rubber.
EDIT - I regret making a more offensive version of this sentiment earlier.

Good reasons to believe our suspicions are correct.
Charlottesville crash suspect James Fields brandished shield for Vanguard America hate group before attack
Southern Poverty Law Center spokeswoman Rebecca Sturtevant told The News the logo — two white axes — is a variation of imagery used by the white supremacists and Fields’ outfit is standard among the hate group’s ranks.
The Anti-Defamation League depicted Vanguard American as one focused on white identity, but noted that its members have “increasingly demonstrated a neo-Nazi ideology.”
Indeed, Fields’ Facebook page was peppered with similar alt-right and Nazi imagery — such as Hitler’s baby photo; a tourist shot of the Reichstag in Berlin; and cartoon of Pepe the Frog, the anthropomorphic frog hijacked by right-wing groups — before it was deactivated around 11:30 p.m. Saturday.
As the images of Fields toting Vanguard America garb circulated, the hate group distanced itself from the suspect and said anyone could use their shields.
“The driver of the vehicle that hit counter protesters today was, in no way, a member of Vanguard America. All our members had been safely evacuated by the time of the incident,” the group posted on Twitter. “The shields seen do not denote membership, nor does the white shirt. The shields were freely handed out to anyone in attendance.”

Translation: let's talk about hate generically instead of actually focusing on who was violent or why. Nothing to see here, right-wing terrorism doesn't exist, move along.

So free speech is now terrorism ?
So assault and purposely running people over is free speech?

It's not terrorism because it's just one dude. There's no terror because the threat is dealt with. To be terrorism you need to have a group that endorses and attempts to carry out further such attacks. I feel the same way about the BLM guy who killed police. As bad as I think BLM are, I'm not yet ready to call them a terrorist group for the same reason, it was a lone murderer acting of his own volition.
This wouldn't have happened if the left hadn't showed up to fight. If the left hadn't set about removing the statues, the right wouldn't have turned up either.
The left is a wet dream for the top people on the far right right now. They're the aggressor not the right, on top of their absolute stupidity, and they're serving as a far better recruitment tool for the far right than anything the top people on the far right could come up with themselves. The left actually creates conditions where everyday people can sympathise with actual nazis because the left is attacking these people on sight when they haven't done anything wrong. (They hold abhorrent views but haven't done anything actually criminal.) Because they're trashing and looting cities and beating up innocents and enforcing limits on what you can say and think if you want to keep your job. Before all this crap, the far right were an irrelevence, they were a joke. They had their silly little rallies and such here and there with just a handful of people and no one cared. They had no power, no influence, no nothing. They were completely irrelevant. Something people pointed at and laughed, if they even gave any attention to them at all.
Unless you want to see the end of peaceful protest and freedom of speech as rights, these rights must extend to all groups. Let the right do their thing. And ignore them.
Or we can keep going, and we'll end up having gang warfare on a never before seen scale with the far left and far right running around armed to the teeth, gunning and running each other down in the streets along with police and innocents, massive riots, cities in flames, ever more authoritarian and twitchy police...

You want to see a gun bloodbath and you're calling others sociopaths?

Personally I'm surprised no one has pulled a gun and started shooting into the crowd at one of these things already. If it does happen there'll probably be no going back. After that everyone will be packing guns.
