To be clear I'm not asking that as a question, rather I thought this was a pretty sharp presentation of the kind of absurdity that's going on right now in the public sphere. I think most people here are aware that creationists aren't the only people who are trying to hijack science, and in a lot of ways they're even getting oustripped by a completely different group.

Either way I'm curious as to what people think of his arguments and whether he could have made stronger ones in some cases or overstated others. My own take, fundamental reality can't be washed away by politics and when that happens things get really bad. I know secular humanists of the 18th century were worried about a) the crown b) the torch, c) the tiara. With the intelligent design controversies of the 1980's and 90's the science community clearly saw the threat of the tiara, but I do worry too many are ignoring the torch.

He is very long winded. The social construct of science has been going on since the beginning. Being human, it is difficult to avoid inserting political and religious bias into our theories.

Today's politics are still affecting the prospects of being able to present scientific facts truthfully. The social bias of science is driven by the method used to fund studies. Studies that do not reach socially predetermined conclusions get defunded. This causes the results of the studies to be skewed, regardless of the true facts. The skewed results then get passed on to the public as unbiased results. Further research into the actual facts results in social backlash.

I do not know your reference to
a) the crown
b) the torch
c) the tiara
Can you please explain them?
