The last positive Trump thread got shut down so it's time to create another! (Better than creating a hundred small threads to clog things up.)

As an important indication of progress toward peace with North Korea, three American citizens held prisoner in the North have now been released:

Trump greets Americans freed from North Korea

JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. — Three Korean-Americans who were detained in North Korea for more than a year were greeted by President Donald Trump beneath a giant American flag after they returned to the mainland US early Thursday.

Despite a middle-of-the-night landing, first lady Melania Trump, Vice President Mike Pence and a host of senior administration officials joined Trump to celebrate the occasion. The men, Kim Dong Chul, Kim Hak Song and Tony Kim, had been released Wednesday amid a warming of relations between the longtime adversaries.

The president and first lady boarded the medical plane on which the men traveled to take a private moment with them, then appeared at the top of the airplane stairway with the three and applauded as the men held up their arms in what appeared to be gestures of triumph.

No surprise, liberals just cannot stand the fact that he's getting things done...in spite of the worst DemocRATic obstructionism I've ever seen. Hopefully little Kim Dung...er, Jung....whatever.....is starting to understand that he can't push Trump around like he did that anti-American Kenyan squatter we had in the White House for far too long....

Yeah, you want to talk obstructionism, let's talk:
Republicans Fill Court Seat They Denied To Obama For 6 Years

Edit: not to mention they have no majorities, they couldn't obstruct if they wanted to, anything not getting done is on Republicans shoulders.

Yes indeed, if you want a real criminal conspiracy to undermine American democracy, this was it -- and still no one has gone to jail for it:

What your tweetfest there fails to mention is that there were four lawsuits brought forth, three went nowhere, and the the one you're referencing went to Michael Ryan Barrett, a radical conservative who's gotten seven cases he's worked on overturned by the Supreme Court, out of eight that have been argued at the Supreme Court level. Basically the group in question went judge shopping, and within three years when the government's appeal moves up the chain to the Supreme Court his ruling in this case will be overturned there as well because the judge had no jurisdiction to hear the case in the first place since it was already ruled on by a higher court (2nd federal court of appeals).

Also of note, the IRS did focus on a few groups, but not because they were conservative, because they claimed taxes didn't apply to them. Sorry, but that's just good enforcement procedure. If a gang starts tweeting out that drug laws don't apply to them you think the police shouldn't investigate? And, another thing your side always fails to mention, the IRS found 12 instances of tax fraud out of 14 groups they looked at, and no judge has ever ruled that the tax fraud didn't take place, even the radical Barrett. The question has always been were they targeted because they were conservative or because of what they've publicly stated about tax policy, not that they actually broke the law, that's never been in dispute.

Unemployment Rate Hits 3.9%, a Rare Low, as Job Market Becomes More Competitive

Quote:
The unemployment rate was 3.9 percent, the lowest rate since 2000 and a sign that the job market has become even more competitive. It had been 4.1 percent since October.

■ 164,000 jobs were added last month. Wall Street economists had expected an increase of about 193,000, according to Bloomberg.

■ The Labor Department revised the job figures for February slightly downward, but revised the numbers for March sharply upward. The result was a net increase of 30,000 jobs, compared with previous estimates.

The drop in the unemployment rate may be partly explained by a contraction in the labor force last month. Still, the jobless rate is reaching historically low levels. In the last 60 years, there has been only one sustained period where unemployment stayed below 4 percent: the late 1960s.

March consumer spending rebounds 0.4 percent as wages rise

Trump’s Ratings Rise
Quote:
Solid economic growth in the U.S. has helped lead to a stronger dollar this year. And the rising dollar has coincided with rising popularity for President Donald Trump. Perhaps it is more accurate to say that Mr. Trump is becoming less unpopular, but however one chooses to describe the economic and political trends, they are certain to encourage Mr. Trump’s congressional allies seeking re-election this fall.

In mid-December, shortly before the enactment of the Trump tax cuts, the average of public opinion surveys tracked by RealClearPolitcs showed Mr. Trump 21 points underwater. In other words, 58% of survey respondents disapproved of his job performance, while only 37% expressed approval.

Today Mr. Trump is still underwater, but the deficit has fallen to 10 from 21. And when it comes to the economy he now enjoys an average approval rating of just over 50, compared to less than 45% of Americans who disapprove.

This is notable in part because a range of recent polls have reported that most Americans don’t approve of the tax cuts. And according to a number of surveys most Americans don’t even believe they received any tax cuts, even though the vast majority of workers did. Depending on your point of view, give some credit or blame to the nation’s press corps for its diligent effort to persuade Americans that the new law has nothing to offer them. But regardless of how Americans respond to survey questions about the new tax law, they seem to like the initial results.

Rachael Slobodien of the Club for Growth says her organization has noticed that some people are unaware that their taxes were cut, but that doesn’t mean they’re unsatisfied with the results. Some workers “are getting huge tax cuts dressed up as a new job,” she says.

This Week CNN is out with a new survey that, unlike some other recent polls, doesn’t show any improvement in Mr. Trump’s overall approval ratings. But the network reports that he is scoring better on a range of issues—among Americans across the political spectrum:

Overall, 41% approve of the President’s work, and 53% disapprove. Those numbers are about the same as at the end of March.
On the issues, however, Trump’s numbers are climbing. Approval is up 4 points on the economy to 52%, the first time it’s topped 50% since March 2017; up 5 points on foreign trade to 43% approval; and his numbers on immigration have improved 4 points since February, with 40% now approving. On handling foreign affairs, Trump’s approval rating tops 40% for the first time since April of 2017, though the increase since March is not statistically significant (42% approve currently).
The President’s improving issue ratings come amid a sharp rise in positive impressions of how the country is doing. Overall, 57% say things are going well in the US today -- up from 49% saying the same in February -- which is the largest proportion to say so since January of 2007.
That shift, as well as some of the improvement in Trump’s issue approvals, stems from more positive ratings from Democrats. In the new poll, 40% of Democrats say things in the US are going well, up from 25% who said so in February. Democrats’ approval rating for Trump’s handling of the economy is up 11 points to 26%.

How are Democrats supposed to maintain a “resistance” if 40% of their members now think the country is doing well? While blue party bosses may be contemplating how to keep their troops in line, there’s reason to think the job of enforcing party discipline is going to get harder.

CNN poll: Democrats' 2018 advantage is nearly gone
Quote:
The generic congressional ballot has continued to tighten, according to a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS, with the Democrats' edge over Republicans within the poll's margin of sampling error for the first time this cycle.

About six months out from Election Day, 47% of registered voters say they back the Democratic candidate in their district, 44% back the Republican. Voters also are divided almost evenly over whether the country would be better off with the Democrats in control of Congress (31%) or with the GOP in charge (30%). A sizable 34% -- including nearly half of independent voters (48%) -- say it doesn't matter which party controls Congress.

The Democrats' advantage in the generic ballot dipped from 16 points in February to six points in March to just three points now. The party's advantage has waned among enthusiastic voters as Republican enthusiasm has grown (in March, 36% of Republican and Republican-leaning registered voters said they were very enthusiastic about voting; that's up to 44% in the new poll), but the Democrats still have a double-digit lead among those most excited to vote this fall (53% of those who are very enthusiastic about voting say they'd back the Democrat in their district vs. 41% who say they favor the GOP candidate). Those enthusiastic voters also say by a 10-point margin that the nation would be better off with Democrats in control of Congress than Republicans.

By 48% to 43%, registered voters say they would rather back a candidate who opposes Donald Trump than one who supports the President. That margin has narrowed from the 52% who opposed Trump to the 41% who supported him in January.

The blue wave is looking like a trickle because it is the economy stupid. All sorts of valid arguments can be made about who deserves credit and about if this economic boom is real but the important thing is that people perceive economy is good. I just do not understand at this late stage the continuous belief that a premature removal of Trump is inevitable. All those Republicans who retired out of fear of a blue wave must be having second thoughts.

That economic boom is only temporary and come from the middle class lower tax; the tax break to the wealthy will break everything. Money is trickling up, that is obvious if you look from on a global and historical perspective.
Peoples will be less happy when their money will go in the hand of the wealthy and barely coming back to them, like it always do without sufficient income redistribution: though Republicans will surely found a way to blame the Democrats, they always do.

It is still the same Ponzi economy that is based on too big to fail as it was prior to 2008 depression. For the most part, the people who caused that disaster either got away with it or were rewarded for it. Whenever this Ponzi scheme collapses it will be much worse then what happened a decade ago because we are that much more down the rabbit hole.

But people especially today are short-term to immediate thinkers and that is how they will vote. My main point was that a large percentage of progressives are yet again wrongly assuming the "right thing" or "progress" in the form of a blue wave or Muller finding something is inevitable.

Whether a blue wave is the right thing is subjective and will depend on your political leaning, but I fail to see how anyone could think the Mueller investigation is a bad thing as he's on a mission to find the truth, whatever that may be. If you want Trump gone then any dirt Mueller can find will be welcome, and if you support Trump and think this investigation is a witch hunt, then you look forward to his investigation reaching that conclusion. That Trump is constantly trying to impede the investigation is not only obstruction of justice, but it proves he's either an idiot, or hiding something, or both. If I were being investigated and had nothing to hide I'd be really cooperative and love the idea of a third party vindicating me.

If Trump truly has nothing to hide he's just being really stupid about it, as he's just making himself look suspicious for no reason...that is unless he is hiding something. Yeah, the evidence suggests that. He must have something he doesn't want found out or he wouldn't be going to great lengths to hinder an investigation of this nature. Or he's just really stupid. Whatever the results of this investigation are, one of the two must be true.

If the economy is still doing good in 2020 Trump might very well win. Mueller can turn up a golden shower bribe tape and people will vote with thier pocketbook. And even with a blue wave it is going to be very difficult to get the 67 votes in the Senate to remove him.

That's sadly true, but I wasn't talking about re-election or impeachment odds, so...ok. Besides, if your statement holds true then what does Donald have to fear from this investigation, I wonder?

He hasn't fired Scott Pruitt, if he does that than maybe I'd develop a tiny amount of respect for him. I mean Scott Pruitt is so destructive, he's done more damage than trump....he puts our environmental welfare at risk.

-How to Get Rich (2004)
And I’m currently finishing up
-Think Like a Billionaire (2004)

I have been amazed at this man. I have gained more respect for him and faith in him the more I have learned.

I am excited to finish the rest of his books.
