I read the book a couple months back and has drastically shifted how I perceived the world! I was wondering if anyone else here has read it and what they thought of the ideas presented.

Meh.

Marcus Aurelius was a military man and an emperor. Not much of his writings would seem to appeal to the average, overweight, video game playing neckbeard, so they may not be at all relevant today.

I'm not quite understanding at what you're getting at. Because a certain segment of the population may not have read it means it doesn't have value today? Is that what you're getting at?

There seems to be a bit of a stoic revival going on these days. I have a feeling it's going to become more popular. Seneca was very popular in early America. Stoicism is kind of the opposite of the cultural hysteria that is promoted so much today, so it's natural that it will attract a new following.

"Thoughts On Meditations By Marcus Aurelius?"

Here is what i muse off some of his Quotes:

"When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive - to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love."

Make all of Life Holy and Sacred Full of Meaning and Purpose; Yes, Do Live; Dance and Sing.

"Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth."

Oh Lord, only if the Politics of the Present, will listen more Intently, on this Opinion Enhancing Critical Thinking.

"Very little is needed to make a happy life; it is all within yourself, in your way of thinking."

And Don't Forget Life is not only a Song; for it is Better Enjoyed as a Dance First to Make Words Song More.

"The universe is change; our life is what our thoughts make it."

Once Again, Don't Forget to Dance Away From Thoughts Alone; otherwise one may lose A Feel and Sense of Life
"Allone".

"You have power over your mind - not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.

A Best Way to Gain Power over Your Mind/Thoughts is to Regulate Emotions and Integrate Senses;
As Science Shows Today, A Free Dance, or an Art like Tai-Chi, or Even Yoga Works Well for this, now.

"Death smiles at us all, but all a man can do is smile back."

Amen; yes, Do Live now; Don't Look back or ahead of Life, too much, For if you Do
Like the Great Fictional Character, Ferris Ferris Bueller, Clearly States, "Life Moves Fast, You'll Miss it".

"The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane."

Watching the News today; The CNN Version at least; This is Presently A Path to take now (note: I Live
in the Panhandle of Florida) so far away from CNN; hehe (Don't Forget Humor/by a way, too) and
CNN is just a Satellite away.

"It is not death that a man should fear, but he should fear never beginning to live."

Yes, once again, Smile at Life now; even if it does not smile back; that much We Will Master;
some of us at least, particularly, with a Freer Dance of Life That Works now.

"Waste no more time arguing about what a good man should be. Be one."

Yes, as Nike says too, Just Do it; talk is Cheap without A Dance of Actually Doing Life.

"The soul becomes dyed with the color of its thoughts."

And A Soul Sings More Colored with a Dance of Life.

In Conclusion:

Overall as far as far as thoughts Go, Marcus is Very Wise.
Overall as far as a Dance of Life that Precipitates more Colors
of Life as Far as the Actual Feeling and Sensing of Organic Life out of Text and General Speak,
Marcus is missing about 60 Percent of the Art in Smart as this is Common in Western Philosophy
as Science now is Finally Playing Catch up With Eastern Philosophies Escaping the Left Brain Metaphor
of Life, without a Dance of Actually Do Do Life. Sooner or Later, More Folks Will Catch up too, in the General Population,
if they wanna be More Fully Happy. Thanks for this Topic on the Wrong Planet; this Indeed is Very Interesting, Still, now.
