So, science = fake ?

There's a lot that's swell about 2018, probably more technology than politics, but I wouldn't want it to get frozen here - otherwise science would cease to hypothesize and ultimately cease to be science. That's sort of what we do to it though if we make it an overarching political religion, it gets mucked up in accretions of deposit and dogma that have nothing to actually do with science or its results.

We have a knack for turning such Promethean inspirations to rubbish though.

The point of Science is that is gets repeatedly proved wrong, it isn't set in stone and knowledge grows.

Yes and no. Science is the pursuit of the truth through observation and testing, and people involved in doing it are well-versed in it and often study their particular niche thoroughly enough to have a PhD. Ergo, I facepalm everytime Conservatives try to argue against what the majority of scientists have to say, especially since most of them don't have any background in the subject matter and merely quote crackpot outlier studies to suit their agenda. Real science though, at least in reference to the hard sciences, is completely agenda free. If there is a bias, it's an improper study at best, and probably doesn't belong in an academic journal.

On the other hand, there is only so much knowledge we have gathered, and there are things that science hasn't explained yet, and may never be able to explain. The origin of the universe is one such example. Moreover, theories, no matter how well-reasoned they are, and how much evidence there is to support them, are still theories, and their findings are still only a matter of high likelihood.

That doesn't mean one should just try to discredit them when their findings are inconvenient for one's personal agenda, especially since it's highly doubtful an uneducated individual has the truth these scientists are missing, but it does mean that we don't know everything. The theory that science will eventually give us all the answer is still just a theory. Actually, I would downgrade it to just a hypothesis, as even top scientists agree that there is data that has long since been lost to time, especially in fields such as archaeology and astronomy, and there's no way to retrieve materials that no longer exist.

What that all means is, there's plenty of room for both science and religion, and plenty of room for all sorts of opinions about just about anything, so long as they don't clash with empirical truth. Just make sure you use that brain of yours when trying to discredit things people who know way more about a particular topic than you do have to say.

Yeah, I watched the Complete Video where Neil deGrasse Tyson ignorantly suggested that Specifically
Science Should Be Called Reality; where perhaps one might catch that view from doing a speciality of
Astrophysics alone; missing the other Science of NeuroScience that now shows that all of Rationality
is preceded by and Driven by our older Evolutionary Brains in the Feel and Sense of the Limbic and
Reptile Brains; and not only that; for all practical intents and purposes those parts of our Mind in
Synergy do for all practical intents and purposes Hallucinate our Reality as we go that does
Provide an excellent 'reason' to do Science in Observing and repeating and confirming
what we can and will agree in Mutual and Consensual Agreement as best as Objective
as we can/will do, otherwise it is possible that one day we may have a New Supreme
Court Justice who lies straight Faced to Senators under oath that
a Devil's Triangle is A Drinking Game; and then not too long
after that; Have a President who on '60 Minutes' says
it doesn't matter if he Mocked A Victim of
Sexual Assault as all that matters
