I remind you, because most of us are autistic, that most people consider revelation very metaphorical and poetic; not all of it is meant to be taken literally.

This thread is to talk about any ideas relating to the second coming, not just revelation.

Most of the old testament prophesies go in three parts.
Coming of Jesus
Relevant information to the time it was written
And Revelation.

I'll start by talking about a related parable, rather than the book itself.

The Parable of the Weeds
24 Jesus told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. 25 But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. 26 When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared.

27 “The owner’s servants came to him and said, ‘Sir, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?’

28 “‘An enemy did this,’ he replied.

“The servants asked him, ‘Do you want us to go and pull them up?’

29 “‘No,’ he answered, ‘because while you are pulling the weeds, you may uproot the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.’”

The weeds talked about are actually a type of weed that very closely resembles wheat until it blooms, that is something important to remember. No one can say for sure who will be wheat or who will be a weed, because they look the same. They grow up together, side by side, and anyone can surprise you.

The weeds refer to the followers of Satan, the wheat followers of Christ. People get to choose, in reality, which they are. By allowing the weeds and wheat to grow up together, it gives any looking like a weed the chance to bloom into wheat.

Though there is a deadline, he could of pulled them all up and sent them all into the fire, simply replanting with good seed but he did not. To give all a chance to prove themselves to be wheat.

The harvest will come, but every day it is delayed is another day of mercy.

Wasn't really sure how to approach this one because, beyond desiring no rude comments, I get the impression you're also hoping for like-kind belief in the analysis.

My take on Revelations is largely preterist, ie. the 66-70 AD seige and sacking of Jerusalem. Enough people claim that it's also a personal initiatic text and that it deals with alchemical facets of each person's soul - thus it would be amillenial as well since it's always going on in someone somewhere but with that too it's tough to tell whether people are just glomming on to the 3's, 7's, and 12's, four faces of the cherubim, and extracting kabbalistic interpretation that may or may not have been intended.

I think some of the most interesting reading in that text was actually the gifts to the overcomers in the churches of Asia minor. White stones with permanent names, becoming permanent pillars in the temple, a lot of these clearly come from a very different way of thinking than what's entertained these days.

As far as apocalypses go I still find Zechariah one of the most interesting, not just from the type and style of its content but it's one of those where - when I was a practicing Catholic or even when I was attending nondenominational churches - I don't remember hearing much out of it. It's also one of the few places where they make a very direct reference to the seven Elohim.

Revelation Story to Suit his Political Purposes too; those folks are forced to listen
