An Inconvenient Glacier: Study Shows Greenland Glacier Growing:

Quote:
Over the past two decades, the Jakobshavn Glacier in Greenland had been melting at what climate alarmists might term an alarming rate. However, a new study published in Nature Geoscience has concluded that since 2016, the Jakobshavn Glacier is now growing again. https://www.thenewamerican.com/tech/env ... er-growing

A little bit of good news, but let's not get carried away. As the article notes, this is part of a documented short-term trend in the area and doesn't counter out the global long-term trend. Look at the signal, not the noise.

So we understand each other:
I am not a man-made-climate change skeptic...
I am a pro-critical thinker...

With all due respect - no, you're not. Critical thinkers don't take such a one-sided approach to issues. They don't rely on such obviously partisan sources (indeed, they'd probably use the source material). They don't ignore the evidence that opposes their point of view. They don't use biased titles. They don't sensationalise. You do all of these things.

You want to think critically about the climate? The IPCC puts out a lot of good stuff. Read them.

Using my critical thinking skills:

Surely this can be verified, one way or the other, in the future...
If it happens it happens...
If it doesn't it doesn't...
Time will tell...
Can't argue with that, surely...

At this point in time:
The study shows that the Greenland glacier was growing when the study was done...
Even dedicated professionals on the subject agree with this...
I think we can all agree that this is a fact, period...
End of story...

But other glaciers are documented to be shrinking.

There's a glacier in Iceland which has just collapsed, forcing the evacuation of a famous tourist site.

Yes, the study shows the glacier has been growing for the period of the study.
The question then is: is the study meaningful?

For a few years, I've been gaining weight. But I weighed myself this morning and then went to the toilet and weighed myself again afterwards and I had lost a significant amount of weight.
If the weight loss I showed this morning keeps on going like this, I'm now worrying about becoming dangerously underweight within a few hours, rather than weight gain over the course of years!

Period. End of story.

I guess glaciers would seem inconvenient to those who fail to appreciate skiing. :(
