Iow what do you firmly believe to be right and wrong?

Here are some of my personal beliefs:

Try to help those less fortunate than you.

Don't take what isn't yours.

Do NOT kill, unless you have no choice due to self defense or mercy killing.

Let everyone live their lives as long as they aren't hurting people.

Never hurt or bully anyone for any reason.

Learn to apologize when you hurt somebody else and try to make it up to them.

This seems like a good code of ethics. Honestly, the biggest moral dilemma for me right now is killing. Lots of my favorite fictional characters have killed. I myself would never kill unless absolutely necessary for either my survival of my family, so why is it that I have such a deep love for anti-heroes in fiction? It's a mystery to me that I'm just working to figure out.

Agreed. So many characters in fiction do a lot of killing and I used to not think about it but now it bothers me.

Whenever I see an action hero shoot a mook I think to myself "That could be somebody's father or son he's killing". :(

I don't enjoy those kinds of movies anymore. It's like they condition us to be callous towards the idea of taking lives whenever the governments decide to have another war and make us kill each other. :|

At leasr in horror movies you're supposed to actually feel bad for the people getting killed.

People who are morally virtuous are ‘less likely’ to be funny, according to new research.

The results suggested that people with high moral standards were less likely to make jokes or laugh at other people’s jokes, subsequently making them less likeable.

“Although highly moral people are often viewed positively for displaying admirable character traits, they may also be disliked to the extent to which they are viewed as sanctimonious, prudish, or unrelatable,”

“Both experimental and field data indicate that such tension not only means that morality may impinge upon humour, but that this can come at the expense of likeability and popularity.

“Thus, morality can have a downside that was previously overlooked.”

It's not that I don't like offensive humor. I laugh at politically incorrect humor all of the time. My main internal struggle is with being able to properly sympathize with those, both in the real world and in fiction, who have moral codes that are vastly different than mine without being overly judgemental.

1. Do not harm others, unless doing so will prevent harm to others.

2. Be honest in your dealings with people.

Pretty much everything else stems from those two.

It would be really cool if humanity could progress toward being something better in many ways as possible.

Don't do things that jack that up.

Do things that help the odds of that progress sticking.

A Synthetic Moral Code

Believe in and worship the Sovereign God, Creator of the Universe, and no other.

Believe in other people as equals to yourself before the Sovereign God.

Do not kill yourself, nor cause yourself to be killed.

Do not kill another person, nor cause another person to be killed.

Do not take that which belongs to another person, nor cause that which belongs to another person to be taken.

Do not lie about another person, nor cause another person to be lied about.

Do not accept ownership of another person, nor cause another person to be owned.

Do not violate your vows of marriage, nor cause your vows of marriage to be violated.

Do not cause another person to violate their vows of marriage.

To knowingly allow, through willful inaction, a violation of any or all of these commandments is to be willfully complicit in the violation.

...

This code is a conflation of the Ten Commandments and Asimov's Laws of Robotics. As such, they are about as effective in preventing 'sin' as any hand-painted sign.

I believe those narcissistic as*holes who drive another person into wanting to kill themselves through bullying and abuse are the ones who truly deserve to be punished, not the suicide victims. But unfortunetly I'm not 'God'.

Never forget an Religious Education exam... I had to write the Ten Commandments... Well. I was rather trying to work fast and one ended up as
"Do not admit adultery"...

Also reminds me of an english exam where I wanted to impress with new phrases... But was told off when I didn't get one of thses phrases right with
"Respectable pillocks in society". Well. The words sounded similar...

Most humans cannot possibly process moral/ethical decision-making in real life scenarios.

So, I don't have morals per se.

Rather, I have real-time instinctive behavior ("human instincts").

I may not even have full control over my instinctive behavior (e.g., "Fight or Flight").

However, experience and education shape my instincts to make "good person" decisions.

Very close to my own fundaments:
1. Be honest and respectful
2. Avoid causing harm

It's not a mathematical kind of code, real life is not really so binary but I find these two the deepest rules steering my moral sense.

"Try" a success are different

"Less fortunate" in what way

"Help" them, to whose satisfaction   plenty of precious lil "people" acted like they "helped " me a lot, but they annoyed me or "helped" me a little

Don't take what isn't yours.

Do NOT kill, unless you have no choice due to self defense or mercy killing.

Abortion

Military

Let everyone live their lives as long as they aren't hurting people.

Living things have to "hurt" other living things to remain alive

Never hurt or bully anyone for any reason.

What is the definition of "bully"? "Hurt"?

Learn to apologize when you hurt somebody else and try to make it up to them.

Seriously anyone can correctly claim anything "hurt" them. Doesn't mean someone violated their "rights"

Seriously
