From the title I expected this article (opinion piece?) to simply childishly poke fun at America and Americans, but it doesn’t - not entirely, anyways - it actually delves into how the American ideals of freedom evolved vs other nations’. It also paints a pretty good picture of how Americans are viewed by others around the world, too, and is right up to date w/ regards to coronavirus response.

Think things will just stay the same in the USA? Or will people ever shift their thinking and attitudes from individualist “idiots,” to a more collective society? The rest of the world believes that’s the only real way to make forward process, but doesn’t really have much faith in American culture changing. But truly, it’s only Americans that can decide for themselves if they want better for each other or not.

Walt Kelly, the political cartoonist that drew the comic strip Pogo, said it more succinctly: “We have met the enemy, and they is us!”
