Andrew Giuliani says he plans to run for New York governor

Quote:
Andrew Giuliani, a former Trump White House staffer and the son of Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani, told the Washington Examiner he plans to run for governor of New York in 2022.

What they're saying: "Outside of anybody named Trump, I think I have the best chance to win and take the state back," Giuliani told the Washington Examiner.

"I think I'm the right candidate, and this is the right time to help change New York State, and we've got a playbook that works," he added.

"It just shows how terribly Cuomo has run the state into the ground and the truth is the assembly in State Senate is to blame as well."

Giuliani's bid for the governor's mansion has been encouraged by conservative donors and political figures, and would have the backing of former President Trump, a source tells the Examiner.

Cuomo better not be running for reelection in 2022, he's the only person this dickhead could possibly win against. BTW why can't New Yorkers get rid of Cuomo?

I wish Cuomo (or Newsom or Inslee or Pritzker or Whitmer) was my governor.

My objection to Cuomo is not what he's accused of but how he has responded.

If anybody is a blatant Trump worshipper, that somebody is nuts.

Andrew Giuliani seems like a Trump worshipper. He doesn't seem to have a mind of his own.

I'm glad I'm retiring soon----that's all I can say.

Just  at the suggestion that anyone remotely related to Trump could win in New York.

There are currently three Republican governors in New England: Charlie Baker in Massachusetts, Chris Sununu in New Hampshire, and Phil Scott of Vermont. All of them are moderates. Baker and Scott could be Democrats and nobody would think anything of it. Sununu is well outside the normal bounds of the Democratic Party but he still doesn't have many red flags that would deter moderate voters. There's also Larry Hogan just down the coast in Maryland.

If you look at the last three Republicans to win the governorship of New York, they were Thomas Dewey, Nelson Rockefeller, and George Pataki. All of them were in the mould of Scott and Baker.

Michael Bloomberg became Mayor of New York City as a moderate Republican, so moderate that he crossed over to the Democrats after he left office. And even Rudy Giuliani ran as a liberal Republican - tough on crime, but taking the liberal line on "affirmative action, gay rights, gun control, school prayer and tuition tax credits".

Cuomo is a terrible governor and deserves to be unseated. I suspect he won't run for another term. If he does, I hope he loses his primary. If the Republicans are serious about winning, then they should run a moderate Republican with no association with the Trump era. Trump was 23% behind Biden in New York, the same margin as in Maryland and Massachusetts. A Trump cultist couldn't win there - the right moderate could.

You're right.....Andrew Giuliani has about as much of a chance to be Governor as Caitlyn Jenner has to be President.

"Giuliani" is to "Cuomo" as "Pot" is to "Kettle" ... one criticizing the other is blatant hypocrisy.

Moderate GOPers couldn’t get elected dog catcher in Texas, because they don’t “menshun Gawd” every 3 seconds.

People here keep electing the same Qanon and MAGA supporting theocrats like Abbott, Perry, Paxton, Patrick, Cruz, Gohmert, Babin, and Chip Roy over and over again.

We have not had a Democratic governor since Ann Richards, and she only won her one term because her opponent made a joke about rape. Our last US senator was Lloyd Bentsen.

(While I oppose theocracy, I am a Christian myself. Specifically, I am a Lutheran in a state that’s about 50-50 between Baptists and Catholics—which would make me an apostate by Texas standards)

While Dems and moderate GOPers are prioritizing better education and fighting climate change, this is the law Abbott prioritized over everything else:
