Why can I not write the word that begins with s and ends with y without it getting sh***y?

What exactly is wrong with cursing? As long as whatever you say or write makes sense, I see no problem with some words, so why should they get censored? Why do WrongPlanet censor some words, that are harmless?

If a person cannot communicate without profanity, then that person has very little to say.

This is too simplified, I believe.

If you someone can say nothing but profane language - then you're right, they have nothing to say.

But throwing in a single profane words in an otherwise long and throughly written comment, I disagree that single profanity equals you should disregard everything the poster is trying to say.

That's as stupid as writing an entire post only with profanity.

What I don't understand is sticking asterisks in profane words. We all know what the words are! It's a rather ridiculous form of attempted censorship.

You're goddamn f*****g right! If you need to use f*****g profanity, then you've got nothing f*****g pertinent to say! I mean, f**k me! What's this f*****g world coming to?

This is supposed to be a site that kids can use, but I've only seen one or two kids sign up in my entire time here. 13+ year olds don't usually care about cussing, so I'm not including them as "kids". lol

Mark Twain said it best, "Under certain circumstances, profanity provides a relief denied even to prayer."  An occasional profane word get's one's point across pretty damn well.

A single word?  Maybe not ... it will depend on what else is being said.

But when every ███████ other word is a ███████ curse word, then the ███████ who is speaking would be ███████ better off to ███████ shut his ███████ face and ███████ go █████ himself in the ███████!

So? What's wrong with little people reading curse words?
Why is that a bad thing? What harm will profanity cause to them?

It's not like they are being exposed to violence or worse, which can cause permanent damage to their development.

It's more a matter of self-proclaimed holy adults who wants to censor free speech.

When I was in Elementary School, we were told not to use profanity. For no reason. Even a single profane word now and then could get you in trouble.

Even today late into adulthood, I wish something terrible happens to those teachers.

If it could be proven that swearing cures cancer, then you could bet that swearing would not only be acceptable, but in some private households and public venues, it would be mandatory; but there is no real proof that profanity benefits anyone.

There is no real proof that censorship of profanity benefits anyone either.

I don't have any problem with curse words. I don't think it means that the person isn't smart, or they don't have anything better to say. In fact a lot of studies show that people who curse are intellectually enlightened, or smarter than the average bear. The only issue I have with swearing especially in print, is when it's directed at another person. I think it's OK to say "It was f*****g incredible!", but it's not OK to call someone "f*****g ignorant" or other personal attacks intensified with f-bombs. That's where the problem seems to be on WP, because some people don't understand boundaries, responsibilities, and etiquette.

Try dropping something heavy on your foot and NOT use profanity in the next few seconds...it isn't easy!
