In the olden days before pc a person who caught your fish was a fisherman.

What should they be called nower days to make the trade more equal for everyone?

There is no stigma towards being a fisherman. Not that I am aware of.

BUT....

the term is rather...sexist!

So..."fisherperson"?

Howbout...

"Seafood procurement specialist" ?

(•) Other

"Fishers" is most commonly used in conservation biology, as well as in Australia.  "Fishermen", however, is strongly preferred by both women and men working in the North American fishing industry.

The most politically correct title I can think of is "Marine Life Harvester"; but I doubt that it will catch on.

Jesus may have been a fisherman and his disciples may have been fishers of men, but I am a man of fish.

Well, now this is simply offensive. I identify as a cod collector and I insist on having my distinction from all those haddock hoarders and gurnard gatherers properly acknowledged.

yes! this is not only not sexist, it's also not as speciesist as "fish-".
My personal suggestion would have been Seapeople.
