Did the person(s) who wrote the Bible have schizophrenia?

I was looking at pictures of "Biblically accurate" angels that are so popular right now, and they look so much like something out of a surreal horror fantasy movie and not the gentle winged humanoids like we normally see in cartoons and junk. Whoever created the Bible must have either had chronic schizophrenia or was taking mind altering substances and it was all based off of their hallucinations.

Or maybe people in Europe found the original angels so creepy they decided to "westernize" them:

"Michelangelo, what are those horrifying creatures you've just sculpted?"
"Those are angels."
"Change them into babies with wings or you will be executed immediately!"

or it is simply bad translation. kherubim could mean ..wheels. this is spelled cherubin in European languages, but more often was used the word malak / melek, means messenger. Greek word is angelos, from this we have angel.

They vary. But some are rather scary.

Wheels with eyeballs, and flying hyrbrid animal humans with four wings. Not your idealized beautiful humans with dove wings. Those came from the Greek Nike figures from Pagan Greek art.

Yeah, that would make sense. The hallucination of entities is one of the possible traits. Disembodied voices, also.

Much of christianity is centuries old coercion. Unsophisticated, archaic bad intent. I say this as a former christian. We look at childrens tales that are a century or three old and wonder, "what the hell were they thinking? That's truly awful!" And christian tales are even older and more archaic than that. Frankly, modern humans, when they are being kind to one another, are better persons than the christian god.

to answer the original question: yes and no. having visions and writing them down are two different acts. But religion, neurologically, is associated with the less extreme schizotypal disorder, and OCD, and temporal lobe epilepsy.

and there's also Lovecraft: the way he describes his Eldritch abomination - it's all tentacles and parts and shapes, somehow lacking an overall concept of they fit together. Basically, the description he gives is one that is designed to evoke images and awe, and part of how he does it is by not actually describing the whole thing in a way you can imagine- so maybe biblically accurate angels are just described like that to be awe inspiring and unimaginable.
