Counting to big number take longer than counting to small number.
This was the most monitored election in American history. Republicans made sure of that by crying "Fraud!" before polls even opened.
They assumed they would win the popular vote before polls opened because they live in a fantasy world where they are, always have been, and always will be the silent majority. Ignoring the fact that in the last 34 years, they've only won the popular presidential vote in 1988 and 2004. But no, Democrats winning the popular vote is sooo suspicious and unusual.
