is this kindof media attention really required to make a decison years from now? i understand people need to know what the canadates stand for but they lie anyways so whats the difference?

also independents need more a freaking vote in everyting. this two party system sucks

The primary elections are actually starting in January of '08....so it's a lot closer than you think it is.

I'm also sick of the 2-party system myself. The Dems and Repubs both suck in their own respective ways. The reason people don't vote for other parties is usually because we never get to see any in the debates. We should throw a few more parties in there....Libertarians (as much as I do hate that party)....Constitutionalists....an independent Centrist maybe? It sucks voting in America, because it's pretty much deciding which crap doesn't smell as bad.

Even though in Australia we ostensibly have several parties: to all intents and purposes you either choose between labor or liberal (labor being "left" and liberal "right"). Our system doesn't seem quite as crazy as the US system and we also have compulsory voting, but it sucks that there is so little real choice in who we have to represent us.

I'll answer this question like a candidate

The presidential debates are to assist Americans in assessing the morals and ethics of the candidates. Like I think we should ban French Fries, because there bad and we should also ban pretzel's because our current president choked on one.

I don't get the newspaper and have a remote control for the TV, click, click, click.

If by any chance it ends up Hillary agaist Newt after the conventions, i would love to watch that debate, beyond that I won't even listen to them for the next 14 plus months.

I think Newt could cause Hillary to have a total meltdown in a debate. She would be trying so hard to kick his ass after what he pulled off by taking over congress, the stress might make her loose it. The guy is 100 times smarter than she is and could tear her ass up.

What bothers me about the candidates int he upcoming election is that, even though I disagree with the Republicans' foreign policy, the Democrats seem like they have a few backwards views on the issue of foreign policy themselves: Take for instance Hilary's statement that she'd refuse to meet with leaders of countries with whom the US has hostile relations, and her critcisms of Obama for saying that he would be willing to meet with said leaders. And then Obama turns around and says he'd be willing to send troops into Pakistan, which, as far as I'm concerned is almost as bad as sending troops into Iraq. The only real difference is Obama's statement that he'd be willing to "cooperate with" Musharraf were he to send troops into Pakistan. Yeah, right. We both know the U.S. would be the ones really pulling the strings.
But no matter what happens afterwards, US troops need to get out of Iraq, which is one of several reasons I'll probably be voting Democrat.
