Republicans vote to censure Montana's first transgender state legislator
The House voted 68-32 along party lines to censure Zephyr. She will keep her position but will be barred from physically participating on the House floor. She will be able to vote and attend sessions only remotely for the rest of the legislative session, which ends May 5.
Zephyr was allowed to speak ahead of the censure vote. She defended the comments made last Tuesday during the debate on a bill to restrict transition-related care for minors, when she said, “I hope the next time there’s an invocation, when you bow your heads in prayer, you see the blood on your hands.”
On Wednesday she said that the Legislature has “systematically attacked” the LGBTQ community and that she was speaking in its defense last week.
“I have had friends who have taken their lives because of these bills,” she told the House. “I have fielded calls from families in Montana, including one family whose trans teenager attempted to take her life while watching a hearing on one of the anti-trans bills.”
So, Zephyr added, she was “not being hyperbolic” when she said “there is blood on your hands.”

A Montana lawmaker suggested she’d rather risk her child’s suicide than let her transition
State Rep. Kerri Seekins-Crowe, a Republican, suggested during a floor debate that she would rather risk her daughter dying by suicide than allow her to transition. Seekins-Crowe did not say that her daughter identified as transgender, but said she was “one of those parents who lived with a daughter who was suicidal for three years.”
One of the big issues that we have heard today and we've talked about lately is that without surgery the risk of suicide goes way up. Well, I am one of those parents who lived with a daughter who was suicidal for three years," Seekins-Crowe said in her remarks in March. "Someone once asked me, 'Wouldn't I just do anything to help save her?' And I really had to think and the answer was, 'No.'"
"I was not going to give in to her emotional manipulation because she was incapable of making those decisions and I had to make those decisions for her," Seekins-Crowe said.
She continued, "I was not going to let her tear apart my family and I was not going to let her tear apart me because I had to be strong for her, I had to have a vision for her life when she had none, was incapable of having none."
Seekins-Crowe said that she was scared and "spent hours on the floor in prayer because I didn't know that when I woke up, if my daughter was going to be alive or not. But I knew that I had to make those right decisions for her so that she would have a precious, successful adulthood at that time."

Montana blocks gender-affirming care for trans minors
The bill restricts the use of hormone therapy, puberty blockers and surgeries on people under age 18 for the purposes of gender transitioning.
Fourteen other states block families from access to these medical procedures.
Gianftore's office didn't immediately put out a statement about his signing. The law, which also makes medical professionals liable to penalties for offering the gender affirming services to youth, is slated to go into effect on Oct.

And so on and so fourth.
Yep.
And that’s why when I see anti trans posts I call people out on their bs. Just did it a couple days ago on Facebook with a 73 or so year old friend that shared an anti trans meme. Asked him if he talks like that to our mutual trans friends, too etc. Told him I hope that bigoted crap dies with his generation.
