The Hill

Quote:
A slim majority of Americans surveyed in a poll released Friday would support pardoning former President Trump if he is convicted and sentenced to jail over allegations that he mishandled classified documents.

The Harvard CAPS-Harris poll found 53 percent of total respondents — 80 percent of Republicans and 30 percent of Democrats — would support a pardon in the interest of national unity, showing a large partisan divide in opinion.

Among political independents, 52 percent said Trump should not be pardoned.

But to be pardoned, Trump would first have to be convicted. That is an outcome that a majority of Americans also think will be unlikely, the poll found.

Only 43 percent of respondents — 18 percent of Republicans and 67 percent of Democrats — said Trump is likely to be convicted.

However, exactly half of respondents said that he should drop out of the 2024 race because of the charges, with a conviction or not.

The survey was conducted between June 14-15 among 2,090 registered voters — with no margin of error provided.

I believe the article is wrong that someone needs to be convicted before being pardoned by the President. Nixon was pardoned by his successor when he was not convicted nor indicted.

I do not support a pardon for Trump. The MAGAs are way way too cocky as is. If Trump skates I don't want to think about it.

Well, I'm not one of them. If Trump's found guilty, I want him to be shown no favoritism.

I am worried about the violence that could ensue if he's convicted. But I don't want him to go free or be pardoned.

Don't y'all have the death penalty for treason?

Potentially problem solved.. dead men can't get pardoned.

Yes, and 31 of the 37 charges violated the Espionage Act.

This Hangman's Elm is conveniently located in Manhattan:

But maybe they'll have to find one in Florida ? Not sure exactly how these things work when you've committed crimes against the entire country.. maybe sentencing can be anywhere on US soil ? :? I dunno. But that particular tree seems appropriate.

If what you say is true, then most Americans are stupid.

Federal Marshals should drag him out of Florida, and hang his a$$ from that tree in Manhattan.

You’d need a larger cage to fit him in.
You’d only get his YUGE head in that one.

Whatever doesn't fit can dangle.

I’m sure that one of his dangly parts is quite small.

At least two. That's why they have to use a cage and can't simply put him in handcuffs - tiny hands.

That post will need beefing up.
We don’t want him to fall and crush a passing car.
