Christian Nationalist Beliefs

• America has a special relationship with God or has been "chosen" by Him to carry out a special mission on Earth -- the military conquest of all other nations.

• American history should be re-defined, re-written, and taught solely within the context of "Anglo-Protestant" Christianity.

• American, as a nation, should be defined solely within the context of "Anglo-Protestant" Christianity.

• Christian prayer should be mandated in all public schools.

• Christians are entitled to define the meaning of the "American Experiment".

• Christians are entitled to primacy of place in every aspect of American culture.

• Christians are superior to non-Christians in every way.

• Christians should "take back" the USA for God -- by force, if necessary.

• Demons have made advances in reproductive and LGBTQ rights and tolerance for non-Christian religions (especially Islam).

• Demons have taken control of journalism, academia, and both municipal and federal bureaucracies.

• Empower the government to take stronger action to circumscribe immoral behavior as defined within the context of "Anglo-Protestant" Christianity.

• English speakers are superior to non-English speakers in every way.

• Heterosexuals are superior to non-heterosexual in every way.

• Immigration restrictions specifically designed to prevent a change to American religious and ethnic demographics or a change to American culture must be imposed.

• Men are superior to women in every way.

• Native-born Americans are superior to naturalized immigrant Americans in every way.

• Real Americans are heterosexual, white, native-born people who speak English, and are thoroughly patriarchal in the contexts of business, family, and government.

• The American government should take active steps to maintain the nation as a Christian nation.

• The Founding Fathers meant the United States to be a Christian nation, and did not desire a strict separation of State and Church.

• The white population is being replaced by non-whites, through mass migration, demographic growth, and a drop in the white birth-rate.

• Whites are superior to non-whites in every way.

• Women should be educated only as much as necessary for them to remain at home, bear children, and serve their husbands.

What I don't understand is why the CNs choose the 1950s or 1920s as the time they want to relive, as opposed to the times of Jesus.

As a Lutheran, I would be considered an apostate, which is worse than being a non-believer, according to the CNs.

Something else to keep in mind . . .

If American was being run by Christian Nationalists right now, only heterosexual, white, native-born American males who speak English and openly declare "Anglo-Protestant" Christianity as their religion would be allowed to vote in the attached poll . . . if people on the autistic spectrum would be allowed to vote at all . . . or to even have a website of their own!

What sects would be considered "Anglo-Protestant"?

Protestant Christian sects dominated by "Anglos" -- a prefix indicating a relation to, or descent from, the English people, England, English culture, or the English language.

In other words, English-speaking "white" post-Reformation Christian churches.

Back in Europe Protestantism took hold in the Germanic speaking countries of northwest Europe:England, Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Scandanavia. So Americans descended from immigrants from those places are now known as "White Anglo Saxon Protestant Americans" or "WASPS".

Ireland, the Romance speaking countries of southeast Europe (Italy, France, Spain, Portugal), Poland, and the southern parts of the German speaking world (Bavaria, Austria) remained mostly Roman Catholic. And extreme eastern Europe is mostly Eastern Orthodox (Greece, Russia, Ukraine, parts of Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, etc).

So any Protestantism would be okay. Except the Right doesnt like the Liberal bent of mainline Protestant churches these days. Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy would be out. Though Catholicism has traditionally been more feared and hated in the US than Eastern Orthodoxy (mainly because its not viewed as a monolithic imperial force the way the RCC is viewed).

So in the Nineteenth and early Twentieth Centuries Irish Catholics, Polish Catholics, and any south Europeans (Greeks or Italians) were outsiders to mainstream America.

However Today pretty much all non Hispanic European descent folks are assimilated to "Anglo" culture. And modern bigots focus on the current wave of immigrants from the Third World.

So Today "Anglo" probably usually means "not Hispanic". Hispanics have long used the term to mean "Non Hispanic Americans". So if these Christian Nationalists are using the actual word "Anglo" now...then apparently they are borrowing the usage from Hispanics to mean the same thing. In addition to being brown skinned and Spanish speaking Hispanics also tend to be Roman Catholic.

Recently the KKK announced that they "now accept membership from Catholics". Nice. So TODAY if you are of Italian Catholic, or Irish Catholic, background then you can don the robe. But not if you're a Catholic Chicano!

Don't forget French Canadian Catholic in this regards. The funny thing is they were a group of people who crossed a porous land border to take cheap jobs in New England who were insistent on keeping their language, customs, and religion. Sounds familiar.

It's really bizarre to think that there's a group worshipping Jesus, who wouldn't have been white, yet they also go around claiming white supremacy.

Further, it's odd they'd think that English is superior - despite the fact that English is basically several languages in a trench coat. If you sat such a group down and made them study where various English words originated from, well, that sure would be an interesting experience. Actually, please do, I'd watch that show.

It's ironic that Fnord has chosen to leave the modern America that his liberal values have helped create, and has chosen instead to go and live in the Philippines, one of the most illberal Christian nations on the planet.

My own opinion of Christian Nationalism is that it would be improved if they got rid of the 'Christian' bit.

Fnord might have claimed above that Christian Nationalists believe that "English speakers are superior to non-English speakers in every way", but he's talking nonsense.

Furthermore, it's well known that English is derived from other, older languages, and I doubt you'd find any sort of nationalist (whether Christian, civic or racial) who is bothered by that fact. So basically it looked to me like you're giving too much credence to Fnord's opening post, and getting your liberal clichés mixed up.

Which parts of the original post do you disagree on? Why? What would you say that Christian Nationalists believe? How would you define Christian Nationalism? Further, how would you define Nationalism for that matter? Personally I have always seen Nationalism as having connotations of racism and racial superiority.

Perhaps I jumped to conclusions. I know that there are certain individuals which dislike the fact that the planets are named after Roman Gods. Makes me wonder if they know about the name origins of the days of the week. With this in mind, it didn't seem that much of a stretch to make the assumption that the group described in Fnord's post (taken at face value) might find issue with the English language in a similar manner. However, I realise that this is me talking about a couple of extremists from a different religion, so it may not apply.

That was my reasoning. More research might be needed. I'll admit I'm fairly new to this topic and perhaps rushed in without considering accuracy. Maybe my brain was making connections that weren't there. Still, with the absurdity of the world, it sure seemed like a possibility.

They did. If you'll notice the list of beliefs posted are what a subset of Americans believe but pretty much none of them have anything to do with Christ or Christianity - they're merely using the label of "Christian," to legitimize their crazy beliefs and try to sell them to others in joining in on their crazy.

Spot on!

The movement should be labeled "WASP Nationalism" -- WASP being an acronym for "White, Anglo-Saxon Protestant"

Their brand of Protestantism leaves the Christ as a mere figurehead, and also ignore His message of peace, love, and inclusion.

Yes, Jesus was a Liberal.  Read His Sermon On The Mount -- it is all the proof you will need.

WASPs generally tended to be very wealthy, so there's that.
