I've been watching a documentary, The Law and the Prophets, about what life is like for Palestinians:

Summary on Youtube:

Quote:
In Israel, East Jerusalem, and the West Bank, the law is whatever Israel deems to be in the best interest of Jewish Israelis and to the detriment of Palestinians. Israel violates the civil and human rights of Palestinians as a matter of standard, accepted policy. However, there are brave, determined individuals who are trying to expose the destructive, unjust, and sometimes invisible ways in which Israel exploits and oppresses Palestinians. The Law and the Prophets explains the mechanisms of control that Israel deploys to subjugate Palestinians. These mechanisms, some violent and some nonviolent, have been perfected through decades of civil and military rule of Palestinians both within Israel, and in East Jerusalem and the West Bank.

The author is Joshua Vis, whose bio on Youtube says:

Quote:
Joshua Vis is a speaker, writer, activist, and filmmaker. He holds a PhD in Old Testament/Hebrew Bible from Duke University, as well as a Master of Arts from the University of Chicago Divinity School. Josh works as a thought leader on Israel/Palestine for the Reformed Church in America. He leads immersion tours of Israel and Palestine with the aim of teaching participants about the history, archaeology, and interpretative history of the Bible, along with the realities of the Israeli occupation of East Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza. Josh recently started Still Processing, a community exploring the richness, complexity, and difficulty of life in an ideologically curious, loving, and open way. The Law and the Prophets is Josh’s first film.

How A Jewish Settler Changed His Mind...

Commentary, by someone named HasanAbi, on a TikTok video made by one Shlomo Yitzchak, describing the moments that made him change his mind about Israel/Palestine.

What spurred him to change his mind was talking to a Palestinian and thereby realizing just now awful life is for Palestinians under the occupation, contrary to the official Israeli propaganda he had been raised with.

Among other things, realizing that, due to all the checkpoints plus assorted bureaucratic nonsense, the Palestinian he was talking to had to allow four and a half hours just to travel seven miles, whereas he himself would be able to travel that distance in minutes.

What really bothers me is the way nobody can dare say a word against what Israel is doing to those Palestenians without being labelled an anti-semite or somebody bringing up the Holocaust to guilt people into silence.

That's a bit of an extreme statement. Plenty of people on this forum, Facebook, real life etc are criticising Israel for what they're doing and not all of them are being labelled as anti-semitic or getting some sort of Holocaust guilt justification.

Wat crimes are war crimes and it seems Israel is in fact committing them and should be criticized for it. Hamas are terrorists and committed acts of terrorism and should be criticized for that. There is no "right side," in this conflict when they're both wrong.

I'm not exaggerating. I've been accused of antisemitism twice by Israelies just for saying I felt sorry for Palestenians.

There's never been a "right side" in any war contrary to what the victors tell the kids in history books. Every war ever fought was just an excuse for the fighting armies to commit as many war crimes as possible.

Ok.. so you've cited 2 personal examples, but that doesn't mean that Nobody can dare say a word against what Israel is doing w/o being called anti-semitic/Holocaust guilt trip. There's even a long thread on this forum with plenty of criticism of Israel w/o people being called anti-semitic/Holocaust guilt trip.

This probably varies a lot depending on whom you are talking to and where. Most people here, on Wrong Planet, do indeed understand the difference between criticism of Israel and hatred of Jews. However, Zionist organizations (both Jewish and Christian) have been more and more pushing the idea that "anti-Zionism equals anti-semitism."

Where have you been interacting with these Israelis?

This post has been up for a while, but not many people have participated in the discussion, which I guess reflects something

Admittedly the video at the top of this thread is rather long, which might have something to do with the lack of response. But it's worth watching.

I've also posted the following related threads:

- Palestinian Christians
- Christian Zionism
- Israeli settler support infrastructure here in the U.S.A.

That "something" is everyone being coerced into silence by the zionists over Israel's war crimes because it's become taboo to even acknowledge it.

Kinda like when the CCP had the whole Uyghur genocide thing swept under the rug... whatever happened to those guys anyways? :?

Somehow, I started to avoid it, maybe I felt the weird atmosphere between them.

Also the whole thing with Iranians protesting the hijab requirment for women, that was a big deal for a minute than everyone forgot about it...while there are still probably citizens being killed over that. But apparently Iran is a big ally for something so the U.S just has to pretend its fine if they kill tons of their citizens over not wanting to force people to wear a silly head scarf. Like idk if I get hate for it, it's not right for Israel to kill so many civilians, just like it isnt right for Iran to kill a bunch of civilians becasuse woman are sick of wearing head scarfs and full body coverings in the desert where it is hot out, where guys get to actually dress for the weather.

Probably stressfully trying to find out where the can evacuate to without being bombed, and then the refugee camp they go to being bombed by Israel and having to find some way of going forward from there.

Iran is hardly an "ally."

I think the main reason why we don't hear much about the Uyghurs, or about Iranian women, is simply that the American mass media assume most Americans aren't terribly interested. Only a very tiny number of Americans are from either Xinjiang or Iran, or otherwise have an attachment to these places. On the other hand, huge numbers of Americans see Israel as "the Holy Land."
