I'm not surprised a friend of Epstein (and his cult) has no problems with this sort of behaviour.

That’s extremely disturbing but not even surprising.

Elders in my former religion handle things in-house too. They treat child abuse like a sin, not a crime. Sometimes the child abusers go on to hold positions of responsibility in the church.

And they wonder why we don't take our kids to church anymore.

I hate to say it because this is horrible and should never happen even once, but... I am not surprised. From what I've seen, conservative Christian church culture is a recipe for abuse. It's one where women and children are expected to be obedient to all authority figures. It's one where age-appropriate children are not given proper sex education to even know or articulate when something wrong is happening to them. It's one where victims are blamed and coming forward about being abused brings much more risk to the victim than the abuser. It's one where abusers are often let off easy, where abusers are shuffled through different churches - something that has been demonstrated to happen in Catholic churches, Southern Baptist churches, and Jehovah's Witnesses churches at the very least.

It's also no surprise that these leaders and congregations would support the sexual predator Trump. He truly is... in the image of the leaders. :pale:

Trump is Doe 174 in the Epstein documents, if anyone wants to go down that rabbit hole.

This sort of behaviour has been first reported in the 11th century and has been going rampant ever since. And yet, the churches of various denominations still enjoy the respect of crowds, and even more so of contemptible people such as Trump.

Excellent post!

It’s also where people genuinely think that God, through prayer and religious activities, can fix a pedophile or abuser and make them stop since “faith can move mountains,” where they don’t care what the research says because the Bible and their religious beliefs trump all of it, where people are discouraged to report because of how it would reflect on God, and where there’s a boy’s club going on and victims aren’t believed. “My buddy Jim Bob wouldn’t do that. He’s a great guy!” I’ve seen this stuff in action. It’s disgusting and so widespread.
