1966, I think it was. It may have been considered obscene in those time, because he was prosecuted for saying 'cocksucker' on stage, and the cops attended most of his shows afterward. I have heard some of his material, and have also seen the movie with Dustin Hoffman as Lenny, and it is very good material. BTW, he died in 1974.
