...and Project 2025 becomes the law of the land, what options do non-MAGAs have?

Do we rebel and defy Christian nationalist laws regarding abortion, gender reassignment procedures, banned books, etc.?

Do we peacefully protest despite threats by Trump to use the military to crush them?

Or is our only option to obey extreme laws?

I honestly have no clue. I'm not a fighter. You can see this from how I fled out of a MAGA, Christian Nationalist, freedom-hating state instead of staying to fight. I just...want peace. I want the government to leave me alone. Live and let live.

If I could, if Trump wins I would flee the country. However, my prospects of successfully accomplishing that are virtually nonexistent due to my lack of money, lack of skills/career, and the fact that I'm disabled. I would have to be a refugee, and I don't think that any countries are going to consider anyone from US a refugee until every single state has long fallen to Christofascism, and even then, would they? It'd be too late for me, anyway. In genocidal situations, people with traits like me fall quick.

I would just have to hope dearly that my new blue state would hold strong. I don't know that they would, TBH.

So, dear America, lets please elect Harris and a blue congress. We don't want to play with this kinda of fire. I'm begging you. Not all of us would make it out on the other side.

Most of the Americans I know personally, I've met outside the US. This means they all know basic geography , and therefore they're less likely to be MAGA.
I feel the rest of the world ought probably to welcome refugees from Trump.

I’m an animist.

As someone who is religiously and spiritually very different than most others, I’m really concerned about the future. I’m genuinely concerned about future religious persecution.

Project 2025 isn’t going away. If Harris is elected, those on the right will still push hard for project 2025 to be implemented as much as possible through the courts, with the remainder waiting for the next republican presidency, possibly in 2028.

Then there are the states. What’s to stop individual states from implementing many of these plans? Nothing.

Young men are unusually conservative at the moment, so it’s looking like the political tailwinds might be picking up for the republicans.

Regardless, I plan to find some like minded groups and fight. I hope others on here will do the same.

Nearly everyone’s rights are very much at stake here. Not just reproductive rights or LGBT rights, but marriage in general, divorce, freedom of religion, school (public, private and home schooling!), housing, health care etc

^Yes, it is fair to say that we have a long fight ahead, even if Harris wins. I've heavily researched the history of the Religious Right, Project 2025, the right's weakening of our democracy going back to the Reconstruction era, etc, and it is extremely concerning.

The threat won't end if Harris wins, but... Harris winning could be the difference between being able to keep on fighting or not. We've already crossed some threat to democracy moves that are going to be hard to get past (the Supreme Court being compromised) but if Trump gets in power, I don't think it's exaggerating in any way to say that this might be over.

The fact of the matter is that if Trump gets in power, it's likely that the two oldest right wing SCOTUS judges will retire so Trump and the Heritage Foundation can appoint two much, much younger Christofascists. It can not be overstated how devastating the prospect of that alone (and that's just ONE horrific nearly inevitable thing that would happen if Trump got in). I'm in my mid 30s and can say that it's very likely that if this happens the SCOTUS will be compromised for the rest of my lifespan no matter even if I live into my 80s, 90s, 100s.

But on an even grander scale, a Harris win with a slim blue congress (although Walz as the VP/Senate leader could go a long way for the congress, just look at what he accomplished in MN. He is awesome. I do think he could possibly bring some change.) would prevent a lot of much needed change from going forward such as court reform, national protections for reproductive rights, LGBT rights, and really everything else leftists and anyone sane want to see. Thus, many people will still suffer, the SCOTUS is still extremely dangerous, and people in red states will not have their rights and freedoms protected. The fact of the matter is that not much of anything can be done on these matters with slim majorities for Dems and I wish people could understand that instead of blaming Biden for this.

The right played the long game. They have it rigged to even when they lose congress, it's always by slim enough margins that they can use their stopping tactics to prevent progress. This is one of those grand issues that NEEDS to be dealt with (this issue includes gerrymandering and tactics of voter suppression) and I'm not sure how we even can. But I'll just say one thing: If the right takes outright power, we are ALL going to suffer and things cannot possibly get better. They'll only get worse. Another Trump term would sink us even deeper into this hole and I don't know if we could ever recover in my lifetime and that's really depressing, you know? It's more than depressing. It's HORRIFYING. My hair is going to go grey. I know the religious right. I know them very well. I know their goals, I know what they say in private amongst each other. As a woman, as bisexual-leaning lesbian, as someone who is disabled, I'm scared out of my mind for what these fascists will do if they seize more power. I'm honestly scared for not just my core freedoms, but for my very life.

Sorry I know this was somewhat incoherent. I had a point to make there. It's just that there IS SO MUCH to say on this that I could write a very long book so sometimes I lose the point. xD

To start off, Rebuilding the wall and Mass deportations of illegal aliens will open up more job qnd career oppurtunities to the many jobless on the autism spectrum.
Next Trumps' deals with our nemesises preventing WW3 will eliminate the possibility of the draft. If you think we cant be drafted because of the Armed Forces blanket ban on autism, ask McNamara. Besides cyberattacks, rationing of food, materials, fuel, medical supplies, and resources, and wartime economy will be the last things we need in our day to day lives. It will be Excaberating already tough fracking and production regs.
You see how Trump did what was never thought possible with Kim Jong Un, that immediately and surely brought down tensions in the Far East? Did you see how his deals with Putin made Putin satisfied with not taking at least ALL of Ukraine? And then the Abraham Accords?
Even if Kamala does have an established disability rights plan, we are better off with Trump.

Free Speech will be oppressed under "misinformation" campaigns, which if enforced by goverment is no less humane than the Medieval European Catholic Inquisitions, or the Soviet Gulags. "Misinformation" campaigns like the Inquisitions, are aimed at curbing unfettered free speech in order to protect the common good welfare. The Inquisitors believed that too. Dont believe me.There are Traditionalist Catholics that claim to this very day that the very same unfettered first amendmemt, that politicians like Hillary Clinton and Tim Waltz ranted against, brought heresies, which they believe led to "evils" like "immodesty", "abortion", "apostosy because of heresies allowed to spread freely" and "witchcraft."

There is a reason many young people are on the right, they dont want to be potentially used as cannon foddler abondoned by Waltz in an unneccesary war while an illegal takes the job or career they could of had.

I'll take my chances with immigrants over Trump, who has made some rather striking negative comments about disabled people, and his religious right goons that would get in power under him who think that autistic people are "demonic" and "junk".

I have never seen any evidence that immigrants are why I have had difficulty finding a job. Frankly, I'm not concerned with that. I'm concerned about people who hate us and straight-up dehumanize us getting into power. And those people are chomping at the bits to get in under Trump.

Disabled people don't tend to fare very well under leadership like Trump's. I don't think I need to elaborate much.

Project 2025 IMHO is The Heritage Foundation's version of 'You will own nothing and you will be happy'.

I remember Trump being asked about it and it wasn't even on his radar. What people tend to forget though, why I don't think he'd easily support it, and this becomes even more peer pressure with RFK Jr. now as a major influence, Trump is more of a Clinton Democrat where the party lines have shifted and a Clinton Democrat would now be a Republican. He's a social belligerent and a showman, its part of how he works the room, but when pushed he typically doesn't want to mess with people's rights.

NYT article discussing his disavowal of Project 2025:
https://www.nytimes.com/article/project-2025.html

I also get that women are *incredibly* paranoid about losing their legal rights and I get it.

My thought - I almost think The Heritage Foundation are never-Trump-ers and that's where they were coming from with this (ie. it was their Harris / Walz vote).

Agenda 47 and Project 2025 aren't that dissimilar. I don't think Project 2025 was intended to weigh Trump down, it and Agenda 47 are both approximate plans that the far-right would like to implement as much of as possible.

The good news as far as I can tell Agenda 47 is silent on abortion and when pressed Trump throws it back at states rights. The big bugbear with Project 2025 is the Margaret Atwood flavors. For what I skimmed of Agenda 47 it's mostly just protectionist trade, return to pursuit and training of competence over CRT/DEI, increased parents rights, more assistance for charter school availability, etc..

The sides (or reasons to vote Trump vs. Harris) seem to be:

Trump: Southern border, exit forever wars, fight online censorship, RFK Jr's MAHA (make America healthy again), positive crypto legislation, he can speak nearly as well without a teleprompter.

Harris: Abortion (push it back to universal legality at the federal level), negative or no crypto legislation (more 'rule by enforcement'), will expand the Democratic voter base with lax southern border, she's not Trump.

I don't bring up race and gender because I really don't think anyone's giving Harris much of a bonus on that at this point (things are strained internationally and I think they know it would play into the hands of Republicans saying that Democrats are insular and out of touch).

There might be more but it seems like Harris will need to pick off people who have narrow niche issues as much as possible AND

No, I'm sorry but I just don't think this aligns with the reality of the situation.

The scenario where a Trump administration doesn't work to implement The Heritage Foundation's policies is completely unheard of.

One reason why I say this is because the last Trump admin implemented 64% of the Heritage Foundation's previous equivalent to Project 2025. They've been sending these things out for every Republican admin since Reagan. They are very well-connected and HIGHLY influential with the entire Republican party. They are not some random group. And Trump is no stranger to them.

So take that above and then understand it under the context that the Heritage Foundation was not actually prepared for Trump to take office in 2017. They were completely thrown for a loop. So their preparations to take advantage of that administration were not there and they weren't as effective as they could have been. They have stated this numerous times.

The Trump admin did a lot of their dirty work for them even when they weren't prepared. Where in the world are people getting this idea that the Trump admin will snub them? Because the chronic liar decided to lie and say that he will not implement Project 2025? Are you really going to believe that after all of this evidence? And there's even more than I have given.

And don't even get me started on J.D. Vance. He is all-in.

Plus, lets get into a point that I think many, many people are missing: Understand that Project 2025 is tailor made for Trump. By that, I don't mean that it's made for him to hopefully implement, I mean it's made with him and his character in mind. There's hardly any solid foundation to the character that is Trump, but one thing that is very important to him is loyalty. P2025 understands this all-too-well. That's why they plan to bring in a bunch of people who will both be loyal to Trump AND directly do their own bidding. Trump is very easy to manipulate. The Heritage Foundation sees all of this and thus designed P2025 perfectly to implement it under him. Even if when he says he won't implement Project 2025 he's not lying (he is lying, though.), that doesn't matter because the "loyalists" that would replace all levels of government jobs via Project 2025 would do it.

Besides... Project 2025 IS the Republican platform. Like, they're virtually identical. What Trump himself promises very often lines up with Project 2025. He can't escape it... It's literally him.

Quote:
I also get that women are *incredibly* paranoid about losing their legal rights and I get it.

We are. Because Roe v Wade was overturned, by a majority of the SCOTUS created directly by the SCOTUS judges that Trump appointed, Justices sent up his way FROM organizations like The Heritage Foundation.

We have already been hurt by Trump in ways that people were saying "that will never happen". For god's sake, people, take the danger of Trump seriously this time.

These are all of the reasons I hate politics and why I've always felt like people trying to fight over whose candidate was better is a bit like 'Choose your favorite sociopath'. It's worse than pro sports leagues.

The trouble with the current situation is the US is getting stomped from internal mismanagement and the one of the biggest, most obvious eye sores is the southern border with increasingly woke-dominated education, parents not being able to raise their kids if it's out of line with the school system's political offerings (heading toward Canada in that respect), and then there's this creepy international affairs branch of the US which cares more about global contracts than internal freedom for citizens and that seems fairly well latched to the Democratic party (so much so that Dick Cheney came out in favor of Harris / Walz). It's bad enough that a lot of women probably will be torn on the issues and still vote Republican because of other factors potentially being worse.

I also think it's no accident that both sides have really insufferable elements that the other side should be up in arms about. It's the divide and conquer. :eew:

The rose glasses here have a focal length under a millimetre.
The first sentence is laughable. Autists under Trump are more likely to be institutionalised than employed. He would use the first available "alternative fact" to demonise the neurodiverse and marginalise us further. He is a populist leader and popular is something we are patently NOT.
Trumps deals with nemeses prevent WW3? You think someone THAT narcissistic doesn't want to be remembered forever as the guy who pushed the button? The possibility of draft would be eliminated only until he has secured indefinite terms, then he'll need a bigger army to control individual states. Why are Republicans so keen on fracking? Is the Cartesian water supply too clean or something?
Quote:

He tooted his horn and you BELIEVED him. Like you bought the "I was a good president" line and the equally laughable "I love America". What on earth makes you think Putin is satisfied with not taking ALL of Ukraine? It is still his stated goal. What is unstated are his designs on Romania, Latvia and Lithuania .
Quote:

I think we can all accept this sentence. The thing is, I see Trump as the more likely to institute a wartime economy, after he gets played by those leaders he seems to want to spend time on his knees in front of.
Trump signing the Abraham accords is as irrelevant as Putin signing the Minsk agreement.
It's just a piece of paper they can ignore at will.
Now that he's a billionaire again it's pretty obvious to the whole planet that Trump will only be good for the rich and the corporate (in any country)
If he gets in, I predict war between Russia and Europe, and between China and the Pacific.
Tremble, ye meek, for you are greasing the rails to hell.

The problem isn't Trump. His only job is to win. He gives 'plausible deniability'. Trump's not going to do this. Trump's not going to do that. All safe. Vote him in.

Except it's not him. It's them. With Trump comes Vance. And Vance will probably bring in Project 2025. He will probably push for universal abortion (at least) bans. He will do all the things we accuse Trump of. Including requiring all public school (but not private school) kids to be conscripted.

All it would take would be for Vance to invoke Amendment 25. Not difficult considering Trump's age and well documented cognitive decline.

Then it's Vance, President of the Republic of Gilead.
