Christians that don't celebrate Xmas
Hi yall,
There are some Christian groups that historically dont celebrate the holiday of Christmas for whatever reasons. Some of these groups are the Jehovah's Witnesses, the Seventh Day Adventists, the Worldwide Church of God, some Anabaptist groups like the Old Order Amish/Hutterites, Puritans, and the Quakers. The reasons for their lack of observance of the holiday are varied.

Jehovah's Witnesses is a real cult. I know this from the video's I've watched that are by a former JW and it's just so creepy. They have animated videos about a family of JWs where the kids are basically not allowed to do virtually anything that makes a kid's life enjoyable because "It makes Jehova sad" or some nonsense. In one video the son is sent into a huge depression because he *touched* a birthday cupcake at school, since JWs are not allowed to celebrate their birthdays. And in another video he becomes miserable again because we went to a pool party on a Sunday and then notices the church when he's on top of the pool slide. It's like every time he's having fun, he's reminded of his religion and is full of depression and guilt.
And of course, if the school is having a Christmas party the JW kids can't have anything to do with that, either. And anyone who does is a horrible sinner that will die a fiery death instead of becoming immortal.
yeah
at one point we had jw neighbors, for some it's a 'new life' after everything went wrong, a structure and a social club,
but their son did the 's', after other bad addictions, then it's all too black&white
and, also my parents had a friend, artist and notorious communist
their kids weren't allowed to have 'property of toys'
every fanatism in anything is heading to too much
this last one, eventually, prison for , forging art, forging money and stealing from the communist party
*once after he(artist) had lend the van over the weekend for an exposition, the next day dad replaced the usual driver, at the end of the day he said he'd been followed all day by a black car (undercover (BVD) )

I don't celebrate Christmas in terms of having a tree or decorations or playing Christmas music. That seems to be what it is about really. I just don't feel like bothering. If I start thinking about Christmas, I mean really thinking about it, I start remembering a lot of really terrible things that happened around Christmas. I don't remember anything good ever happened around Christmas.

As I understand it, the usual reasons are:
1) Neither the Bible nor any other historical evidence tells us what day Jesus was born on.
2) The date of December 25 was selected in the 300s AD, as a way to Christianize the popular pagan holiday of the winter solstice.
For these reasons, some Christians regard Christmas as not being an authentic Christian holiday.

I heard that in Japan people celebrate Christmas, even if they are not Christian. It's basically seen as a holiday anyone can celebrate if they want to, all that really matters is that it's fun. I think they have have the right idea.
Although in Japan they also think you're supposed to have KFC and that it's something Americans traditionally eat at Christmas. In fact, my aunt who is from Japan, she's married to my mom's brother, asked a couple of years ago if we could have KFC on Christmas Eve, which is when we normally have our roast turkey. My mom had to explain, as best as she could, that people don't usually eat any kind of fast food for Christmas in Canada, and she wasn't sure she could get it on Christmas Eve, anyway.
I heard the founder of the first KFC in Japan KNEW that people in the USA normally eat turkey at Christmas, and he lied in order to sell more fried chicken during the holidays. But I digress.

Here’s an anti-gay one (~2 minutes long) that’s revolting:
