Hi yall,
I spent the holiday with my family....I have a cousin who was raised Mormon but left the LDS church a long time ago. He told me that when he was growing up the Mormon Church and/or Utah tried to ban chocolate because of caffeine. It blew my mind.I dont know why they think Jesus would care about chocolate use.

I think that the ban on coffee started when the Mormons were trying to isolate themselves in Utah. Coffee can't be grown there, and has to be imported. So, the church leaders decided that the best solution would be to ban coffee.

I’m aware of and have even experienced devastating injustices on account of religion, but trying to ban chocolate is a whole other level of evil.

No chocolate, coffee, tea, energy drinks, or adult beverages. I would so not make as a mormon

Depends, are we talking actual chocolate, or are we talking that Hershey's garbage that's like 90% wax and sugar by weight?

It was Hershey's.

I prefer good chocolate - usually 60-75%, but if it’s an emergency and there’s only Hershey’s available, I’ll eat it.

Yeah. We need to make sure that we get our Minimum Daily Requirement of Vitamin Chocolate.

I used to work in an office directly above the offices for a Mormon mission.

That was pretty nice. They had a lot of missionaries, but they all just assumed that someone else had already tried to convert me so they didn't try. Instead, we talked about other things. They were just ordinary people.

Riding around on bicycle in white shirts and black pants made them look like dorks. They knew that but accepted it since a couple of years of being a missionary and their college tuition at Brigham Young was paid for by the church.

I never saw the girls on bicycles. The mission bought a lot of small cars and I think that was for the girls to drive.

I would have hated their schedule, though. If I remember correctly, their only free time was Monday afternoons from noon to six pm.

One thing that was interesting was that something like two or three times a week, they would make pancakes in their office (at least, they smelled like pancakes). I was tempted to go down and ask if I could contribute to their pancake supply fund in exchange for pancakes.

It was Hershey's.

So, for the common good then.

I've done that, but it is a choking hazard.

Are the Mormons out in force this month? A couple of days ago a Mormon randomly added me on Facebook and the day before my friend was woken up by their knocking on doors

Theres an opportunity for app/hardware development.
Neighbourhood Watchtower Watchpower.
When anyone in the streets sees the deployment of a Mormon squad they trigger the app and every bell/knocker in the street is energised to deliver a mild RF burn.
We wouldn't want to leave anyone twitching on the ground would we?
