Many Democrats appear to share President-elect Donald Trump’s positions involving transgender issues, puberty blockers for minors and illegal immigration, in contrast to otherwise negative reactions to his upcoming second term in the White House, a new poll from The New York Times and Ipsos shows.
Despite 86% of the Democrat and Democrat-leaning respondents expressing pessimism (20%) and worry (66%) about Trump’s return, 67% of them oppose allowing transgender athletes into women’s sports, the poll shows. Barring transgender athletes from women’s sports also drew the support of 64% of Independents and 94% of Republican and Republican-leaning respondents.
Nearly half (49%) of those polled believed society had become too accommodating toward transgender people. 62% of Democrat and Democrat-leaning respondents said society had gone either far enough (39%) or too far (23%) in accommodating transgender people. 77% of Republican and Republican-leaning respondents said society had gone too far on the issue.
More than half (54%) of Democrat and Democrat-leaning respondents said minors must not have access to puberty blockers. Nine out of every 10 Republican and Republican-leaning respondents and about six out of every 10 Independents (61%) polled supported the position.

I have and will always be supportive of each person's right to express themselves however they see fit. The only stipulation I would add for transgender athletes is that everyone should have to meet the same testosterone requirements.
Agreed in principle. Sports participation should be based on actual physical characteristics, not just the categories of sex/gender.
However, whether testosterone requirements are sufficient may vary depending on the specific sport. Different sports might justifiably have different rules.
Also, professional sports are different from high school sports and gym classes. In ordinary everyday school sports, testing everyone's testosterone levels regularly is not feasible. In the case of school sports, perhaps it might be best to replace the sex/gender division altogether with dividing students up into maybe 4 or 5 or more categories based on actual manifest physical characteristics (somewhat like the weight classes in professional boxing, but based also on observed physical strength, running speed, etc.).

Not altogether surprising. You can be conservative economically and be socially progressive.
Conversely you can be progressive economically and socially conservative.
I've know wealthy conservative people in Australia who support refugees, climate change and conservation of forests.
I also know working class people who are labour/union supporters who are deeply racist and anti-immigration and anti-LGBQI.
